I can't believe Ainge traded Theis for a 3rd string and people are happy with this.

Just keep Theis! So what if he walks at the end of the year! Just sign a minimum contract 3rd stringer to replace him and you are right where we are after this trade. And we get to keep Theis and use him this year and in the playoffs. What is the problem!?

This was a talent downgrade to clear the jam at center and (I assume) get under the tax line. They couldn’t keep Theis and Thompson next year and I guess Theis was the guy they could move.

I theorized a few weeks ago that they brought in Thompson on a 2 year deal because they decided they weren't keeping Theis this offseason.
2021 Houston Rockets

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

Mo's brother Franz is who I've been hoping the Celtics will draft this year, so hopefully this is a first step in that outcome.

Hopefully this means more playing time for Timelord.

Well moving Theis opens up the starting Center spot for someone like Drummond.  If he wants to play heavy minutes on a championship caliber team the C's are a great fit.  C's desperately need another shooter and doesn't seem like anyone that can shoot will be available on the buyout market.  Maybe Drummond will sign because he would be given a starting job.  Cousins is still unsigned.  Aldridge probably Miami now with them getting dipo.  Not sure who else will be out there but two roster spots now for the C's.

Kemba, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Timelord

PP, Fournier, Romeo, Nesmith, TT

Grant, Semi, Edwards, Wagner

Seeing on Twitter that Teague and Green may be involved in this deal... Ainge has to have an in on the buyout market.

Also, how has Carsen Edwards survived all of this roster upheaval?

He's owed money next year, while the three above were not.

I don't know who decided it wasn't meant to be between Ainge, Pritchard or Hayward, but I am so sad we couldn't trade Gordon for McBuckets and Myles.

Because we gave him guaranteed money and years, which turned out to be really dumb.

His $1.8 million next year is fully guaranteed, so he's harder to move than expiring guys like Javonte and Teague
I'm bitter.

To get below the tax

Celts also have TT and TL

Wagner has legit C size also. It can come handy against the likes of Embiid

Wagner also annoys the crap out of Giannis

The two big lineups had to end and for whatever reason they couldn't simply bench Thompson.

Lol, I know. I still just can't get passed the fact we guaranteed him money.

The Magic will receive Jeff Teague and two second-round picks from the Celtics to complete the Evan Fournier trade, league sources tell @JaredWeissNBA
and me. Teague has been told he doesn’t have to report to the Magic and will be waived by the Magic, per a league source.
