So... I'm guessing we're just going to stand pat, maybe with or without Hayward after tomorrow?

I mean I think Hayward's already out the door but what trades can we expect at this point now that the Draft picks are made.

Keith Smith :

Boston may have gotten a future first round pick from the Utah Jazz in the deal with Memphis. It's got some weird protections on it. Working to confirm. Also Vincent Poirier may have gone to Memphis as well.
Really curious to see the protections on that pick. If it ain't likely to convey, then we may be talking about a future mid/late second rounder.
I have them on an earlier page, but TS basically guaranteed to convey at some point, probably either next year (if the miss the playoffs and don't win the lottery) or the year after
Just saw your posts. If this is the pick we're talking about, then it will likely convey in 2022! Sounds great!

If it is the Utah Pick
these are the conditions

Utah's 1st round pick to Memphis protected for selections 1-7 and 15-30 in 2021, 1-6 in 2022, 1-3 in 2023 and 1 in 2024

Looks like a salary dump. Poirier maybe. That's the price you pay

Never give up a first round pick to dump 2-4 million.

Yeah, literally no team would do that, especially if it's just to save tax
dumping Poirier/Edwards would be more for the roster spots than worrying about the tax

If the only goal is gaining a roster spot, then you can just cut them. Literally the only difference is money against the cap/tax
trading them for a future pick clears their spots and salary for next year.  #30 is a steep price but what I figured they'd use.  if it gets us Utah's pick next year, all the better

That's trading a pick for a pick and having them as a throw in, not trading a pick to dump them and then having a future pick as a throw in. I'd bet that we throw in cash, like we would have in any deal to dump them.
no doubt they included cash.
getting just 2 second rounders suggests the cost of unloading Poirier was steep if it is indeed confirmed he's included.

Nesmith is an instant upgrade over Ojeleye, and Pritchard is an upgrade over Wanamaker. Not the guys I would have taken, but still decent picks. Love the focus on shooting.

If it's true we got rid of Poirier at the cost of #30 and got a future pick that's great. Poirier sucks majorly

Obviously the move is to either keep Hayward or trade him. Letting him walk for free would be tough.

If he does go for free, Boston might as well embrace the youth movement. Will be one of the youngest teams again

It's a steal if so. We either get a lottery pick in a draft that's supposed to be stacked, or a pick in what should be the double draft... for a #30 pick that we wanted to move. Wooh!
I'm bitter.

Interesting that Boston did not try to address their bigs in the draft. Hopefully that will be coming with a Hayward  deal
