Poirier is just a deadweight contract anyway. I'm surprised still managed to get a value out of him.

We didn't. We gave up value in order to dump him.

Early 2nd rounder is more valuable than very late 1st. At least its safer to draft in early 2nd, unlike guaranteed contracts on first on who may not even make the rotation.

No. First thing I heard from him was some report that he dominated the shooting drills at the combine. Other than some clips, I don't know much more than that he is a good defender and decent passer.
