Memphis has a protected Jazz pick next year (1-7, then 1-6, then 1-3, then 1, then becomes 2 seconds).

Could be that pick, or something with swaps. I doubt they give their own pick straight up.

If this is the trade - even if we need to include a 2nd - I would cry with joy. Bane at 30 is great value so maybe MEM is happy to give up that Utah pick for him.

Keith Smith :

Boston may have gotten a future first round pick from the Utah Jazz in the deal with Memphis. It's got some weird protections on it. Working to confirm. Also Vincent Poirier may have gone to Memphis as well.

I like Pritchard's interview: https://hoopshype.com/2020/11/16/payton-pritchard-nba-draft-oregon-ducks-interview/

I'm hoping that he is another Scary Terry special who can chip in at that backup PG position.  We will see.  DA usually finds a couple of late round gems.  Not always, he misses a lot, but he has hit on enough of them for me to give Pritchard the benefit of a doubt.

Pritchard's Dirt Dog attitude is really a plus though in my book.

Quoting Pritchard from his interview: "Everybody likes to win. I separate myself because I hate to lose. I can’t stand losing. So when it comes to the time at the end of the game and there is going to be a deciding play, I want to be the one to make it. I can take the blame."

Looks like a salary dump. Poirier maybe. That's the price you pay

Never give up a first round pick to dump 2-4 million.

Yeah, literally no team would do that, especially if it's just to save tax
dumping Poirier/Edwards would be more for the roster spots than worrying about the tax

If Danny pulled that off, he’s a genius.

I wonder if some else happened in regards to Terry. Got leapfrogged by predicted 2nd picks like Quickly, Flynn, and Pritchard.

Draft shows you that Danny doesn’t value bigs as much. May have more confidence in out current big rotation than we do.

Or is about to get a center for Hayward.

Please don’t let it be Drummond. That would be a major bummer.

Any decent chance we keep Hayward?

Just a quick correction (sorry, I'm usually asleep by now): next year's protections are 1-7 AND 15-30 (so pick needs to be 8-14 to convey). All others are correct

If this is the one, then cue the Utah Jazz watch thread!
I'm bitter.

So - given that we didn't find anything else out about Gordon tonight, what do we think this means now for the deadline tomorrow? Seems like nothing materialized on a trade for Gordon tonight. I kind of wonder if given this and given that the Hawks look like they may be going the Rondo/Danilo route and there being fewer suitors with cap space if Hayward and Boston work on an extension now.
