He had seven points on 2-7 shooting. He maybe lets relax a little.

There's more to basketball than points and shooting percentage

Exactly.

SEC DPOY at 5’8”.

First team all SEC.

Way more impactful than Wanamaker.

Poise, presence, can dish, and shoot the 3 and he’s heady.

Pretty good for someone who almost went undrafted… He’ll be in the rotation before the end of the year....Great pick Danny!

Ya I honestly don't get it. He's fine but given that he's on a two way and Brad Wanamaker has been pretty good this year he's gonna be  hard pressed to get rotation minutes. Feel like he's probably more a next year contributor in competition with Edwards when Wanamakers contract expires.

You tell he is at another level talent wise, not just dude picked up late in the 2nd round. He has a mature presence when he has the ball in his hands. Man, I'm sure glad his future is with us.   :D

True.

He can run an offense.

Knows how to drive and finish and knows when to drive and pass.

Yes there is, but my point is we haven't seen enough to justify the statement "Waters NEEDS more minutes." I have no problem giving him a chance, but one okay game doesn't mean he gets a rotation spots no questions asked.

True.

I also think Waters is not needed this season.

It's next season that the Celts will need Waters.

I would maybe suggest giving him a few games before putting him in the starting lineup.  I have a feeling Sac did very limited video work, if any, on him leading up to the game. And he's been playing really well lately with Maine so tonight was a nice spot for him.

He only scored 7 points though that +20 was certainly impressive.

Wouldn't release Wanamaker to make room for Waters. Brad's been playing well. He contributes something positive every game he plays.

True.

Wanamaker's not going anywhere.
He's been solid this season.

If Wanamaker continues to play well, next season a team will offer Wanamaker more playing time and more money.

That's the time maybe Wanamaker will decide to leave.

I'm sure the Celtics are a bit surprised at how good, and how ready Waters is.  IMHO he is better than Wannamaker right now, and could definitely help in the playoffs.  But, patience...everything will work itself out...

I think they did know what they were getting - why else would they draft a super small PG?

Kid's going to be taking Wanamaker's place on the roster next year.  Wanamaker will be offered more than the min contract Danny's likely to offer.

Yes you're right.  I guess I was thinking about how fast he's become ready.  But even then I'm only guessing... due to the Wannamaker signing.  Brad has been mostly good...just needs not to force things.

Wanamaker has been good on the recent road trip and has earned a spot in the rotation. Until tonight he's been pretty consistent, which is one trait of a rotation player that everyone overlooks.  A guy like Edwards makes a couple of shots and everyone here goes nuts saying he's a 'steal'. Then he shoots  0 for 8 his next 2 games.  That type of production from your rotation guys isn't sustainable if you want to be a contending team.  Which is why it's never a great idea for most rookies to be relied upon.

Re  Wanamaker you don't need your 4th guard to be fancy.  You need him to play well enough so that you don't lose the lead every time he steps onto the floor.  So far he's done that this season - and for cheap money.  He's been a bargain - and with their current roster structure their 4th guard is always going to be a minimum salary guy or a buyout guy chasing a ring.

Wannamaker was pressing last night and trying to force stuff and was horrible.  It is bad when a player thinks he is more than what he is and that is what happened last night all those bad drives like he was channeling Jaylen Brown, without the athletic ability.   He does have a nice knack to get to the line and usually plays within his boundaries but could that recent good play went to his head?  Usually he plays more within the offense, and does force stuff so much but last night it was like he thought it was his team at times.

Edwards has more offensive talent in his big toe than Brad does in his whole body.  Waters was nice last night.  The guy that people are euphoric about that I am worried about is Grant Williams.   He looks like the second coming of Chuck Hayes right now but I hope he figures it out.

Not last night, ugh.  I suppose he is contributed to Waters development?

Someone mentioned something about how it is better if we wait until a certain time to convert Tre's contract. But I forget when and how...

Waters isn’t getting an NBA contract this year.  We could only sign him to a two-year deal.

Wait until the off-season, and we could sign him for up to four seasons.

Here it is. I presume that 2-ways can only be converted to two year deals. I don't know if we can wait though. Waters already looks better than Wannamaker, IMHO.

Water plays with a pace and style I really like.

His hessi dribble off picks is a thing of beauty in my opinion. Very IT4 like.
ok fine

Tremont Waters, Brad Wanamaker, Carsen  Edwards, these are all fine players but they really are more of commodity level players in the NBA.  They are fine players but there will be 10 more available in the draft each year.  Every now and then, a guy like this turns into Isaiah Thomas but it is rare.

Glad to see them all contributing.  Ainge did well picking all of them.
