He had seven points on 2-7 shooting. He maybe lets relax a little.

It's not just the shooting, Waters is a true PG.

He went in there and controlled the tempo of the game.

Waters' shooting is just a bonus.

After watching him tonight, I'm a believer. He may not ever be an all star, but he will carve out a good role in this league. Floor of a guy who plays 10 years in the league, ceiling of a starter or (long shot) all star
I'm bitter.

Waters is really looking like Van Vleet.

i have watched him a little in the g league and posted some of this earlier. yes, waters is smart. he can shoot from deep. he is a great passer. he plays pesky defense at the perimeter. i anticipated he would be up with boston very soon.

but he also will be abused under the basket by taller players. plus, he can be pushed around. not unexpected given his build and size.

but what i liked tonight was how he has quick hands on defense. he and smart both play similar on that point.

True.

He can run an offense.

Knows how to drive and finish and knows when to drive and pass.

No. He doesn't. A really nice debut but his time in Boston is limited this year. When Kemba is back, he needs to be back in the G League, getting better so next year he can make a run as a rotation player.

True.

It's next season when the Celts will need Waters.

Yes there is, but my point is we haven't seen enough to justify the statement "Waters NEEDS more minutes." I have no problem giving him a chance, but one okay game doesn't mean he gets a rotation spots no questions asked.

His two threes when he first came in were extremely ill-advised, but he calmed down after that and looked good

I wasn't a fan of the 3 he made, either, but he gets a pass because he made it

Exactly.

SEC DPOY at 5’8”.

First team all SEC.

Way more impactful than Wanamaker.

Poise, presence, can dish, and shoot the 3 and he’s heady.

Pretty good for someone who almost went undrafted… He’ll be in the rotation before the end of the year....Great pick Danny!
