Going the bargain route, if the Heat are considering releasing Duncan Robinson (Twitter implies they might) to free up some space for a vet under the hard cap, I’d love to make a trade for him.  Could be a viable option as a stretch 4.  He can certainly shoot it, and his defense has improved his last two years (including his senior year in college) to become not a total liability.  As far as I understand we haven’t officially signed Kanter, Wanamaker, Theis, or Poirier yet, so we should have the space to acquire him.  I don’t think we’d be able to get him on waivers.

Worst pick ever glad he is gone. GW is my now my least favorite player on the roster now.

He hasn’t played a minute of real basketball yet.

GW = Grant Williams?  You either love every player tremendously or have some irrational hatred.
Both

I got a feeling Dwight Howard is coming

Healthy Howard would be nice but odds of him surviving a season probably not that great. Was it his back that kept him out most of last year? Back issues do not get better as you age with that body frame. Would hate to see Howard ignite our team and then go down a few days later for the long haul.

I wouldn't worry too much about that in the Celtics' case, because if they do sign a guy like Dwight then you have Kanter as your backup center - and that's an exceptionally good insurance policy.

Not many backup big men in this league who can dominate multiple areas of the game the way Kanter can on offense and on the boards.   Kanter has his limitations, but he is a talented big man who is more then capable of holding down a starting role for significant stretches of the season if he has to.

That takes a lot of the risk out of signing a big man like Dwight, who can play but has durability concerns.

I quite frankly do not want a veteran on a minimum salary who can take any minutes away from the younger players.  This team is 5-7 deep right now with talent that could get them at least as 4 seed in the East, and they need to find out quickly if any of the rooks can make a dent in that.

If not, they all get packaged for someone else.

There's absolutely no chance, after the year the Celts just went through, that they're going to sign Dwight Howard.

I wish him well as a person and did not hate him but he was not a very good pick or basketball player for us.   I think he was a nice guy and team mate, just in over his head and competence level.

I didn't even know the year he was drafted he was one of the top international prospect

Danny gambled and lost

Also same with Zizic ... who is looking below avg

Danny had too many picks and not enough roster spots.... so he asked Yabu to play overseas.  Requested for Zizic to do the same.

Yabu was a good soldier, just never developed.  Grant Williams is so much better and he hasn't even played a regular season game yet

I wish, rather than a draft and stash, Danny just would've traded the pick for a future year.  It seemed like finding a player willing to be stashed at 16 is a way bigger drop-off than trading for a future pick.  I just never saw any talent in Yabu from the first day of his first summer league.  Just not a good basketball player.  Oh well.

he was a fourth year player who looked like he did not belong in summer league. That was a woeful showing by him, He really left Danny no choice.

Funny enough, when I initially saw their draft profiles i thought Yabusele was an exciting prospect, but was not expecting much from Ojeleye.

Now after a few years in the league Semi has proven himself a useful NBA player due to his physical talents, his work ethic, his toughness, and his ability to contribute as a solid 3+D guy.

Meanwhile Yabusele has consistently struggled to do anything at even an average level.

Danny must really be steaming mad at how poor Yabu has looked this summer. He should be genuinely dominant in Summer League after all this time.

Are we in line to sign a Faried-type veteran for the minimum maybe?

When that dude showed up with red and then yellow hair, last year, I knew he was a joke.
