so when they wave Yabu are the C's responsible for any of his salary from this year?

Danny and Brad were at the game last night  (first time I believe)  - Guess they saw enough.

I hope we sign Tacko...

The timing is interesting to me. Why waive him now if they don't have someone to replace him in mind. If they just wanted to spot it would have made more sense to wait until the end of the offseason to deal him in case they needed his salary in a trade.

I expect a signing or a trade to replace his roster spot to come soon.

In retrospect they should not have picked up his option last year. Had they not picked up his option they would have $3.5 more MM to spend on the free agent market.

Tacko on the roster would be good, but I would rather see him replace Strus as the 2nd 2 way and sign/trade for an immediate rotation guy.

Could Edwards and camp demand of 1st round calibre salary ... forced Danny to waive Yabu like this?

In addition Danny could be intrigued with Tacko or Green

DA doesn't let go of 16th picks easily but he's moved two this off-season (Rozier too).

We're not saving money by waiving Yabu, and Edwards already has a roster spot. I'm not sure the Edwards idea is the reason.

As for Tacko, maybe they just think he has more potential as an end of the bench player than Yabu--who clearly showed up out of shape after two full years in the organization.

He’s pure 3&D.  He obviously impressed the C’s in workouts and was certainly on their draft board.  They signed him to a 2-way minutes after the draft ended, because they knew they wanted him.  He started his college career in D-2 before moving up to DePaul for two seasons, in which he set school records for 3s.

He’s a good guy for a two-way.  The type of replacement level guy you can call up for a few games when everyone’s is hurt/sick and the send back down when you don’t need him.  Think Chris Babb but not on 10-day contracts.

Best for everyone. Yabu is simply not an NBA player. He was taking up space.

yep. good riddance. was terrible. if tacko can just rebound and shot block as a 4th big end of bench he brings more to the 5 spot than yabu did at his respective postion. that is how bad he was. wasted pick. i knew he would never pan out. stated it here many times.

But that's a question of fit, Rozier can play, they just didn't want to pay him what he could get on the market and they have guys ahead of him on the depth chart and he wanted more mpg.

SOmeone really needs to take the reigns from Danny Ainge in draft night.

Given his position in each draft, Danny has done just fine. Picking after the top 10 or so is pretty much a crap shoot, and they have only had a few picks in that top group, and those have been good players, Brown, Tatum, Smart.
