So what will Danny have to offer now?  Al is gone. He did the sign and trade with Rozier - over the Cap still?  Under?  Do we have the full MLe?

If no MLE we just have the 4.8 room exception?
John Karalis on Masslive writes that they will have the MLE.
I'd offer it all to Favors. Think he could return to that 15/8 guy he used to be.

If karalis is reporting that he is wrong. As it stands a two player sign and trade for Kemba and rozier would not get us the full MLE. We would only have the room exception.

We need to see what the other moving pieces are.

Rozier counts as roughly $9 million outgoing.

Kemba counts as $32 million incoming.

Even if we combine the $9 million + Baynes $6 million, we're nowhere close to the roughly $25 - $26 million we'd have to send out.

Now, there is a caveat that BYC only applies if a trade will leave a team over the cap after the trade.  So, it's possible that the Celtics could renounce all their free agents and exceptions, and get under the cap.  Under those circumstances, the trade is a lot closer to working financially.

Under those circumstances, though, we'd lose the full MLE and any Bird rights we had, which makes it kind of pointless?

I can't figure out a way a large trade exception gets created, either.

If that's the case then I am speechless. Irving's backward plans screwed up Ainge during the trade deadline in acquiring players. Waited on Davis for completely nothing.

I went from an Irving apologist to an Irving hater now. Let me hop on the bandwagon folks. I hope Irving gets boo'ed hard when he returns to the Garden. I would be shocked it he gets a video tribute though.

So Vucevic, Capela, and Horford are out of the market.

Kanter and Looney remains? Derrick Favors? We need all the bigs we can get.

Haha - imagine if he got a video tribute? That is most certainly not happening. I imagine Al might get one, but that is a tough call since he joined our main rival over the past couple of years (and obviously moving forward).

Kyrie is definitely a db, but I don't know that trading him would have done us much good. We replaced him with another All-NBA PG and it sounds like we would have lost Al, regardless.

I don't really put much stock in Windhorst, but if that's true then wow. I defended him all year, but I will become a staunch Kyrie hater if he's been doing that

Yeah, Ainge has screwed up badly over the last year. Did nothing last summer. Did nothing before the trade deadline and totally misread the entire situation with Kyrie and Anthony Davis

As fans, alot of us were optimistic Kyrie would stick around and we'd get Davis, but Ainge is behind the scenes. Doesn't he get any intel on any of this stuff? Doesn't he have any assistants that can keep their ear to the ground and report back to him news like oh maybe, just maybe....Kyrie has his sets sight on teaming with KD and AD ONLY wants to play for the Lakers?

Don't get me wrong..I like the Kemba signing but it's a separate topic. I just hope the Celtics can recover from this because I'm afraid this last calendar year has set this franchise back in a big way.

Hate to say it but with no big men even in the east we are a fringe playoff team. Lets be honest we don't have a legit starting NBA PF or Center on our team and I'm not convinced Danny has a plan to bring any here.

Charlotte was a fringe playoff team with a much worse roster and coach. I think we'll comfortably make playoffs, but probably as a 5-8 seed now. Although if Kawhi leaves Toronto will be in a rough spot.

Yeah, you and me both. I believe it by the way. I think Kyrie and KD have had this planned for a while.

Looking back, it was over the day Kyrie said "ask me July 1st" and "I don't owe anybody **" when asked about free agency.

It was after these suspicious comments that Ainge or one of his people should've taken his comments as a huge warning sign.

Am I being to optimistic or pessimistic? I mean I know some people have Grant Williams in the HoF but I can't go there yet. Don't get me wrong I really like our talent 1-3 but when you don't have a legit big in a game of big people seems hard to compete to me. Did I miss something? Did we get a couple of NBA bigs?

They aren't bigs, but I can guarantee you that Tatum/Hayward will be playing a lot at PF. If we can lock down a legit big, then I think we will be okay. I mean, we do still have the Room Exception to use on a starting center, and with Theis and Timelord coming off the bench (along with another vet min player), I don't think we will be 'screwed.'
