The Celtics have been actively exploring trades, and draft scenarios for players that would better lineup with a future built around Tatum and Brown... sources close to the team are skeptical that they can get Irving back but remain open to re-signing him./quote]

There was also talk of Cs talking to Morey/Houston about some of their players, which fits right in with this.

Sounds like the Cs are doing their due diligence for the post-Irving/AD dream world.

While I understand that a Cs world that has KI and AD in it has a more immediate chance at a championship, it scares me about the durability of both of those players. And if we don't have both, we won't win a championship, especially depleting ourselves of assets to get AD.

There was also a pretty definitive opinion from Kyler as to whether Roizier could possibly come back:

Let me clear it up for you... Terry won't be.

If Irving leaves, Terry is retained, and the Cs make minimal changes they still have a rotation to figure out. I assume Smart starts at PG with Tatum starting on the wing along side Hayward or Brown. The latter becomes a high usages 6th man. Not sure TR will be happy with role . https://twitter.com/stevekylerNBA/status/1134516219997020161

No sense of who Phoenix will target. As for Terry, the word is his camp is way more concerned about quality fit in a winning situation more than a money grab./quote]

Same here... If we go the youth route, I much rather see Smart running point than Rozier. Heck, I would prefer Hayward as primary ball handler than Rozier

Someone help me out here, I am not a Twitter person. Who is Steve Kyler and why should I believe he has the inside info on what is happening inside the Celtics front office?

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Who?

But seriously Steve Kyler sucks, and his information should be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree with both of you guys.

And the words from Rozier's own mouth, coupled with word from other sources, including Kyler, seem to support this.

I don't think we have anything to worry about about Scary Terry being in Cs green again.

He's with Basketball Insiders.

I saw the tweet on the RealGM Celtics twitter feed and just followed on it.

Hope he's wrong, but feels right these days.  I think Danny and Brad will need to do some major butt kissing to bring Kyrie back, and I doubt they feel like doing that.

I'll wait for word from Bulpett, Washburn, MacMullan or somebody like that.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I went looking to see who he is. Apparently he is a more a web publisher who played as a basketball contributor. That doesn't give me a lot of confidence that he has any connections or that he should be considered as a reliable source of what is happening in the C's front office.

Yeah, I will too. Not many others but these three really come out with good reliable Celtic news

That report starting to pick up some steam:

Celtics not expected to pursue Anthony Davis as vigorously as prior to trade deadline, but door wide open for Knicks, Lakers and mystery teams https://www.thebirdwrites.com/2019/5/31/18647754/nba-trade-rumors-anthony-davis-celtics-knicks-lakers-kyrie-irving-jayson-tatum-zion-pelicans-pod?utm_campaign=thebirdwrites&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

I am ambivalent as to whether I hope he's right or not.

This butt kissing to have KI back feels dirty (both figuratively and literally) to me. Smacks of desperation to me: "oh, please, please, please go to the prom with me." Puke!! We really have to stand on our heads to have someone want to play in Celtic Green? ****H!!! :P

A web publisher is the only one that knows the Celtics real plans? Yikes.

Feels like the writing is on the wall.

I am very curious what Ainge's plan B is if Kyrie goes elsewhere and he does not pursue AD. I just cannot see him making three first round picks. Have to think 2 of them are packaged for a vet.
