Hope he's wrong, but feels right these days.  I think Danny and Brad will need to do some major butt kissing to bring Kyrie back, and I doubt they feel like doing that.

I don't think the C's or Kyrie can afford to look at it like that. The AD issue has to be resolved before Kyrie resigns, at least here.

It might be good for the C's if Kyrie comes back regardless, because for them, he still becomes an asset they can move if things don't work out. For him, though, this is his first and possibly only chance to choose his circumstances. Without AD, this is a much less stable situation for him, and he could end up anywhere. Even if we get AD, he might like something else better. We don't know what will be available for him.

If Kyrie stays, he will get one more shot at making things work. If he teams up with AD and the pairing ends up not working, then AD leaves, and its dismal for everyone involved. There is no point in sugarcoating it. Kyrie should only stay if he buys into the team's vision for how this will work and is willing to live with full accountability for the outcome. He will have more responsibility than anyone, and if he doesn't shoulder it, he's doomed here.

Kissing butt is the worst way to handle this.

I am completely fine with no keeping irving or trading for davis.

But if this team keeps rozier imma lose my mind

Same here... If we go the youth route, I much rather see Smart running point than Rozier. Heck, I would prefer Hayward as primary ball handler than Rozier

agree times 1000

I would be perfectly OK to try a guard/wing lineup of  Brown/Hayward/Tatum with Marcus Smart as the wild card. Brown defends the PG spot, but Hayward runs the point on offense like Doncic does in Dallas.

Would be a big long lineup.

The idea of Marcus Smart as the starting PG is not one I want to think about. He is much better served playing along side a legit PG. Let Hayward be the point forward and run the offense as Smart plays along side him.

And I want no part of Rozier on this team in any fashion...let alone as a malcontent 6th man.

That report starting to pick up some steam:

Celtics not expected to pursue Anthony Davis as vigorously as prior to trade deadline, but door wide open for Knicks, Lakers and mystery teams https://www.thebirdwrites.com/2019/5/31/18647754/nba-trade-rumors-anthony-davis-celtics-knicks-lakers-kyrie-irving-jayson-tatum-zion-pelicans-pod?utm_campaign=thebirdwrites&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

Picking up steam, eh? That’s literally just the Kyler report (who is a D-level NBA guy) and a blog writer reporting on it lol That’s like one of the. Celticsblog guys writing up a story on a Steve Boucher report.

I think I'm gonna puke if this is indeed the moving-forward situation, esp retaining Terry Rozier.

Multiple first/second-round exit, here we come  ::)

I thought Kyler claimed in one of those tweets that he's spoken with someone in the Celtics org - or course Danny & co could be purposely putting out false signals.

Re Rozier I think he's going to find that there isn't much of a  market for his services.  I can see him back on a short term deal if they tell him he'll get a chance to win the starting job - and then they bring someone in to compete with him.

I agree with both of you guys.

And the words from Rozier's own mouth, coupled with word from other sources, including Kyler, seem to support this.

I don't think we have anything to worry about about Scary Terry being in Cs green again.

You aren’t reading that correctly. The comment Kyler made was it Rozier would be happy with returning in a similar role. This is what he said about Rozier:

“I think both sides are open to a return, but I can understand Terry wanting some love and respect from the Celtics or its better to move on... he will have options”.

I think a lot of people are in denial about the Celtics current situation. I see so many posters absolutely refusing to accept the strong possibility Kyrie leaves.

It’s going to be interesting to see how people react if/when Kyrie walks and the Celtics act accordingly.

Meaning the Pels site picked it. June 29th can't get here soon enough.

Truth.

This is a good resource for the “staying sane during silly season” toolbox. Seriously most of these guys are hacks, especially Kyler. He knows nothing, but by spewing this nonsense he gets clicks and people talk about him, so he’s getting paid even when the garbage he spews never happens.

The responsible thing for the Celtics to do is move ahead with plans that don't include Irving or Davis. They do not control either situation.

They do control their draft picks and the contracts of their own young players. That includes control of Rozier. They're going to have to make a decision about him pretty soon.

The guy came up with the idea of a basketball site and named it Basketball Insiders. Now he tries to pawn off rumors as investigative reporting and thinks he is an actual NBA Insider.

TP. I'm afraid that "in denial" is the prevailing sentiment on this blog and on NBC Sports Boston (shocker). I genuinely hope that I am wrong, but I have seen nothing in his behavior since before the All-Star break that indicates that he wants to be here. I don''t think that he likes his teammates, his coach, and perhaps this city. Having said that, the opportunity to play with AD combined with the trading of a number of the younger guys may trump all these negative factors and he reenlists.
