Seeing how well Brown and the whole team is playing without him will make me less disappointed if he's in the Anthony Davis trade with Tatum.  I'm leaning towards keeping Brown over him if it comes to that.  I hope it doesn't though.  That's the only realistic Smart trade I'm interested in.

Im not trading Tatum .... no way
Too bad you're not the GM.

We'd be starting Whiteside for Horford and god knows what for Kyrie

Davis doesnt want to come to Boston

Did you forget what his father said??

Is this reality too hard to handle?

And why would you trade Tatum or Brown??
I like how you have an insight into what AD knows that nobody else I see privy to. Insider triboy

Literally who cares what his father said. He has no role in the NBA, and Davis is close friends with our best player.

If we fall short this year I think a trade for Davis would make us the best team in the league. It's that simple

I'm no insider, but sounds like you think you are  Mr. Davis is in the bag

what a joke

he wants to join the Lakers... and his father and him have a very close relationship btw.  Unless you know more than his father , right?

If the Celts win it all this season,  why would you trade for Davis?

Tatum and Brown are key pieces of the Celtics future

If we win it all with this group then I think it would discourage Danny from breaking it up. It's if we don't win it all, or miss out on the Finals (or even ECF) that the AD trade possibility gathers steam.

What's interesting is that while AD and Kyrie are good friends, so to are Kyrie and Jayson. Apparently Jayson is Kyrie's closest friend on the Celtics and he had this interesting thing to say a couple of months ago:

Quote
I see the same thing in what me and [Tatum] talk about now. We’re six years apart. And I try to tell him, I’m like, look: ‘I’m a liason between all of this… Whatever you need me to do. I’ll get out your way once you get to that point [of greatness]. You go ahead. This is yours. You want it? Go take it.’ And I tell J as well: ‘Me and you in this, going for the guts and glory. When it’s all on the line? I know I need you right next to me. So let’s get this thing going.’ I have a different relationship with all of my teammates but specifically with him, how special he is.”

Irving wants to be “part of a great duo” with Tatum and, after butting heads with James a few times during their days together as the veteran and champion tried to teach Irving how to be a better player, he asked him for advice.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that trading Tatum might not go down too well with Kyrie. If it's a dealbreaker for him Ainge may need to use Jaylen as the centerpiece of that AD trade. The way Jaylen has been playing lately he's regained a lot of the perceived value he may have lost earlier in the season.

I'm sure the team will address that when the time comes. But you can bet Ainge has been thinking on it for a while.

We don't have the depth at guard to trade Smart unless they add a couple of guys via draft or FA.

I voted no but I fear he could be part of the Davis Deal if it goes down.

Remember when Hayward's father wanted him to stay with Utah? Guess in your world where Mickey is an all-star and our starting big is dedmon paired with the mighty Terry Rozier and where it is normal to average 15 assists per game, Hayward is still in Utah.

Father's may want something for their children, but that doesnt mean their children will always follow them. At the end most fathers will support whatever their children decides regardless of their own feelings in the matter. It doesnt need to be vocalized to be true.

Let me just say that I never, ever, not once, made a professional decision based on my father's opinion. I made my decisions in my professional career based on what my wife and I thought were best for us and our children.

My guess is most here are probably in the same boat I am. They made decisions about their careers regardless of whether your dads thought it was a good idea or not.

I put exactly zero stock into what Dad Davis had to say. AD is a big boy and I am sure will make his own decisions.

This was from a podcast last month. The whole interview with Kyrie and Tatum is worth a listen - it was a positive interview, so it unsurprisingly got very little attention. I think their relationship is the most interesting aspect here. They clearly are good friends and want to play together, so is moving Tatum a good move if you're trying to convince Kyrie?

Don't think Marcus is going to get traded.

If Kyrie leaves, Marcus is likely our starting PG next season and rightfully so. That's his natural position and is more than capable.

I could then see the Celts going after a shooting guard with the MLE and starting either Hayward or Tatum, Horford and Baynes with Jaylen coming off the bench.

Names that comes to mind for shooting guard free agents that I am assuming the Celts could have with the MLE.

-JJ Redick
-Wesley Matthews
-Kentavious Caldwell Pope
-Rodney Hood
-Wilson Chandler
-Alec Burks

OR...Celts start Jaylen Brown at the 2 and they go after a PG with the MLE and Marcus is the sixth man.

Available affordable point guards
-Ricky Rubio
-Patrick Beverly
-Darren Collison
-Rajon Rondo
-Isaiah Thomas

Guess what I am also trying to see is I don't think Kyrie comes back next year (NY bound) and I don't think the Celts get AD.
Hope I am wrong. I also think that Marcus, Hayward and Horford are 3 guys I fully expect back next season. Oh and I think both Rozier and Morris are gone.
