Okafor himself describing the situation as difficult
""I'm just trying to focus on playing basketball," Okafor said Wednesday following the team's shootaround. "It's really difficult with all the rumors, not knowing if I'll be here tomorrow. But I know I'm playing tonight and that's what I'm focusing on."
Okafor did thank the organization for being open with him about this, so his message was a little mixed.
Brown also commented on the unusual nature of what has been happening
"This isn't uncommon as it relates to the topic," Brown said Wednesday. "It is uncommon as it relates to the length of time."
Note this is a front page ESPN story for a backup center averaging 10 points a game so obviously the thing has become a bit of a circus. I hate Okafor's game, but I do really feel bad for him as a person and how he has been treated the last week. This has gone on long enough. This failed bluff by BC is embarassing

Most people seem to feel the same way

So the coach of the Sixers said he has held players out before because of trade discussions and goes so far as to say it isn't uncommon just the length of time here being uncommon and somehow I was the crazy one for saying it happens a fair amount.
Moranis you truly are incredibly difficult and I really don't understand what you are even trying to do with half your posts here. It is difficult to not express more frustration with you because of how consistently you derail threads by including unrelated comments and examples and generally just being difficult.
At least 4 posters in this thread have tried to explain this situation to you and why it is unique and you have ignored every single one and offered completely unrelated scenarios in response to this. So for the umpteenth time I will try to explain this to you.
Please let me know what part you don't understand after instead of replying with something irrelevant.
Point: Teams do not publicly announce they are close to trading a player, hold them out multiple games and then have the player rejoin the team and start playing with the team again
Why is this unusual: This creates a lot of difficult situations for many people involved. It leads to members of the staff and organization saying good bye to the player. It leads to teammates being asked about it by the media. This is why Elton Brand tweeted at Okafor thanking at him. This is why Okafor said good bye to the staff publicly. This is why it was publicly reported that Okafor would not fly with the team to Charlotte. It creates a complete circus for the team and the player.
Then you throw in the fact the personal impact on Okafor. Instead of maybe just telling his wife/gf and his dad about the potential move, it becomes public knowledge. Everyone that knows him even a little bit friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, college teammates is going to ask him about the situation and where he is going. That is just public nature and is a very difficult situation to deal with. That is a big part of why this was bungled.
Finally from a value perspective, every writer I have seen has commented how this was a bad bluff by Colangelo and he did not get what he wanted out of it. You can dismiss the writing by the Ringer or Liberty Ballers and any other site covering this, but it doesn't change the fact that every single thing covering this series of events have commented how badly it is worked out, how awkward it is, or how poor a way to treat Okafor this is.
Point 2: Why is this different from your Ray Allen, Joseph Nurkic and Baseball comparisons
1) Ray Allen: It was never publicly announced that Ray was traded or close to being traded. That means we didn't have someone like Robert Parish thanking him for his service and we didn't have Ray on TV saying good bye to teammates. We didn't have public reports of Ray not coming along and joining the team plane. In fact, Ray did not miss a single game (let alone 2 and a traveling trip with the team). Furthermore, we didn't even know about this Ray thing till months or perhaps years later. It was completely different from this team in every way except the fact they both play in the NBA and both at one point were close to being traded.
Do you really not understand the difference between these two?
2) Nurkic: Nurkic was actually traded so as a starting point this is a pretty bizarre comparison. You speculate that he may not have played in a game when the Nuggets were shorthanded because he was on the verge of being traded. You realize this is 100% the right way to handle this and nobody here has expressed any belief that this kind of behavior is uncommon. If the 76ers had just given Okafor his standard DNP-CD nobody even comments on this story. It is not a front page story on the Ringer and ESPN right now. THAT IS WHOLE POINT!
3) I am not bothering to respond to your baseball response. Just take that as an example of derailing a thread with an irrlevant comment. Thankfully it was so irrelevant nobody even responded to it.
Do you get this? Please explain to me what you don't get.
PS thanks again to saltover, eddie, number_n9ne and others for calling out this kind of ridiculousness. This routine has gone on long enough.
