If we could pull off a trade that nabbed Daniels and sent out Tony I would offer the LLE to Ramon Sessions as a backup PG, It doesn't look as if Milwaukee will re-sign him as they now have Luke Ridnour, Charlie Bell, and Brandon Jennings signed at the position and are just at the luxury tax level. Sessions might also like the exposure he would get as a backup PG on a championship (contending) team. If Rondo, God forbid, would ever go down, the Celtics would have a very good PG that could continue their run for a championship.

I would think that Milwaukee would match that, but as you say since they're very close to the tax level they might not. If I were them I would match, but who knows. Also, aren't the Knicks interested in him and offering him more than the LLE? I would think that there are better offers for him than the LLE out there. I guess it wouldn't hurt to offer it.

I don't agree. The problem with TA is his play has been erratic. Nevertheless, he is still a better option than the 2 young guys at the moment.

The number of minutes Allen would get will be marginalized with the acquisition of Daniels.  Personally, I'd rather see what the young kids could do in those minutes.  I know what Allen can do.

With regards to the payout, I would think that $1.5 to $1.6MM would be more than sufficient.  It would make him the equivalent of a minimum salary player for Memphis.

It wouldn't be a cash neutral move if we used the LLE, but it would be close to a cash neutral move if we signed a minimum PG.  For me, it would be about getting a more useful player in the fold for Tony's salary slot and just about any of the PG's we've talked about are more useful for this team.

I think Sessions would rather sign for the QO than the LLE.

I know the Knicks have been interested but has backed off some because they are concerned about what money will be available for next season and are hoping to not have Sessions sign and then have Robinson take the qualifying offer without knowing they can get rid of either Jeffries or Curry's contract to assist in next year's attempt at getting to max UFA guys.

Like you said it wouldn't hurt to offer the LLE around to a couple of the RFA's who's teams might not want to consider re-signing their guys because of financial implications like Sessions or Felton. I also think it might not be a bad offer for a player like Flip Murray.

Why? Isn't the QO a million dollars less and if he signed the LLE for a year and a year on a players option and didn't get it matched he could be an UFA after that just as well next year.

Since Ramon is a restricted free-agent, he has to be offered at least 2 years guaranteed. Also, since he only has 2 years in the league, it means he'll be restricted regardless for the next two seasons.

I very much doubt he would simply accept the QO, unless he sees a very good opportunity during free-agency next year for a long term contact. If no one is willing to give him a decent two year contract, an LLE offer guaranteed for the next two years isn't as bad as it looks for him since he can go unrestricted after that.

Does the BAE stay available throughout the season?

Because if it does, then i'll be very interested to have the BAE in reserve when teams cut vets to save money in February.
If it gets to that point, the minimum seems a much better move so that we will still have a BAE next year if needed. The difference in salary in Feb between a minimum contract and the BAE is not long that much, and the savings are significant if we have the league picking up part.
