Quote
The Pacers and Celtics are having headaches trying to move a role player. What’s this offseason come to? “While the Pacers and Celtics still hope to find a third team to make a sign-and-trade deal for Marquis Daniels work, a source said it appears Daniels will likely end up signing with the Celtics for the biannual exception.”

Seems no one wants our trash.

I cant believe this signing was announced a month ago but there has been nothing official since. First time I have heard of this type of 'either we sign and trade for you or we sign you to the bi-annual exception' deal

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Just about to post the same thing, just read it in the IndyStar.  Getting Marquis for $2m per would be a nice moral victory for the team - the man had what was pretty much a career year and will be taking a 70% or so pay cut.  A nice bargain.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

We need to just realize we signed Tony to a stupid contract and keep him around, maybe he will stop playing like an idiot and comes around. We need to just end this crap and sign him.

What's the Pacer's asking price to take on Marquis Daniel's salary? This is not being analyzed correctly. This far from being "no one wants our trash". If a multi-year deal is in the works for Marquis, how high will his salary be and will the Pacer's be willing to increase their payroll by that amount, and if they're going to increase their payroll by that amount what are they asking in return? Is Danny "really" trying to give TA away for nothing? Hardly the case. If that's what is holding things up, I'm pretty sure TA could be easily moved to a team under the cap + cash.

But without that Bi annual exception it means our summer is over.

We signed sheed to the MLE and Shelden to the Vets minimum so it means no more signings for us this summer which sucks cos it would be nice to pick up a vet back up PG

I doubt we would use the LLE on anyone regardless, there's really no one I can see at first instant worth offering that to. It'll be vet. min. from now on for the final roster spot, and preserve the LLE for next year... with a better FA crop.

That really sucks for him. He finally earned that 6-7 mil a year contract that he had, and to win a ring he's got to take a pay cut. Someone send Bird a vhs of the original Big 3 Highlights so he remembers where he came from. Tony Allen is bag, but so is the majority of his team. It's an expiring contract as your team is going nowhere. Give us Marquis for Tony and Giddens please.
Can't stop, Rondo!

If I just might add, so that people understand how little motivation the Pacers have to add payroll, they're currently at or very near to the tax cap, they'll try to avoid that to a great extent. For them to go into that territory, they need something substantial in return.

Would a sign and trade of Mikki Moore work?

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Like Yogi would say: Till he's signed; he aint signed". Marquis sint signed. That means that he "might" not get signed. We'll see in due course.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

HoopsHype said that it'll be a 2 year contract for the bi-annual exception

Hoopshype is just assmuming that by bi-annual exception it means that it's for two years. Though I think it's more than likely that it is indeed a two year contract, with the final year being a player option.

ATTENTION! They picked that story up from the Indy Star. And the Indy Star is just re-reporting 3 week old news. Boring.

Yay. And the search for a PP backup continues next year! What a moral victory! You probably mean a "moron victory".
