That is likely what will happen again. at 4 mil per on a two year contract I sign him up. At 8 mil he is a team killer. Smart GM's don't pay bench niche players 8 mil per season. Stupid ones like the Grizzlies over pay. (Conley at 8 mil for one example) When you do you become the Washington Wizards. One overpriced star and a bunch of over-payed scrubs. Danny won't make that mistake. Even BBD's mother doesn't think he's worth 8 mil per.

I like BBD, but he's not a starter on a playoff team. Chris made two great posts to put things in perspective.

If I was Danny, I'd sign BBD for 3 years at around 12 mil total with weight limit clauses and maybe a team/player option at some point. Not more years, not more money. Maybe 6 mil on a one year contract, but long term that would be overpaying.

If BBD thinks he deserves more, and he can get it, congrats to him. When the Celtics are building the new team around Rondo, BBD will be a luxury if he's getting 6 or 7 mil a year for 3 or 4 years. If that's the case, try to work a sign and trade using the trade exception from Quisy trade. If Oden takes the QO for next year, the trade works. In any case, try to get a player who expires in the summer of KG/Ray.

I hope things end like two years ago, and the Celtics sign BBD for limited years & money. He's a likable player, but he's said before that he wants more minutes and money. He's more TA than Perk, IMO.

Some people made a great point that under the new CBA it is likely the 6th thru 12th players on a roster who will be taking the paycuts. 

NBA revenue is heavily dependent upon stars, which makes Kobe, Lebron, and others very underpaid (believe it or not).  Its the $3 to $10 million / year players who are overpaid b/c their ability to generate revenue isn't much.  I'm not sure how they can solve this without affecting all players, so it'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

As mentioned, Davis fits right into this category.  Sure, Davis has his fans, but very few people buy a Celtic ticket or memorabilia b/c of Davis.  Instead people pay to see the starters (w/ the exception of Krstic at the moment).  So regardless of if you think Davis deserves or doesn't deserve a pay raise, its unlikely he'll be getting much of one under the upcoming CBA.  Hopefully he doesn't make a stink about this b/c it will adversely affect his ability to maximize his earnings (if people see him complaining).

Didn't danny ALREADY replace Davis with a 6'9" more athletic pf who just happens to be our backup sf and who has guarded Gasol nicely in the playoffs for another team?

Green will be our future 3 guard once PP retires or comes off the bench if he stays around too long. We have yet to find the KG replacement, but it sure isn't BBD.

He can function as either, depending on what's available.  It's all about roster flexibility.  So, one of Ainge's goals will probably be to try and sign Green to a contract that doesn't make him untradeable.

Sean Grande just said the Celtics all season would get out to big leads and fight to hold on to win. Exactly what I've been saying about watching this team get by with Baby. So while Shaq and Semih were getting huge leads, Doc would defiantly force the issue with Baby. But hey, no way does that scenario could have possibly lost a championship last season. A trend that no one here seems to notice happening all of this season when praising Baby. Baby just took a shot drawn up for Ray, and took a three. So Doc is raging mad at Krstic and now Baby. Leon played great, what a real championship(earned)player.

Glen Davis will probably spend his off-season working on developing a three-point shot that will justify him jacking up one per game.

I spoke too soon.  Maybe he will use the rest of the regular season to work on his three-point shot for the playoffs.
