I think the action on bigs will come from trade, not free agency.

I can't understand why Olynyk is even being mentioned.

Because some one mentioned it earlier in the thread, perhaps, that happens here a lot if you go through the pages.
Can’t believe how dumb the front office of the Mavericks are!!!
They just burdened themselves with Kelly’s contract...

Perhaps, but with such a large FA class, there's bound to be bargains available later in the summer.

I wonder what kind of compensation we’ll get from Charlotte.  Maybe Hernangomez.

I'm not understanding the burden??  $12-$13 million is a pretty standard price for a reliable rotation player.  Believe or not, Miami was significantly better with Olynyk on the court for each of the past two seasons.  It also sounds like they didn't/don't want to lose him in a deal with Dallas.

Anyways, I fail to see how Olynyk would be a financial burden for the Mavericks.  Dallas has other deals coming off the books that would give them plenty of cap space in 2020.  Olynyk would also bit a nice fit alongside Porzingis for short stretches.  I'm sure Doncic will enjoy playing with both of them.

If we don't trad for a big - Capela or Adams, then I think its going to be Vincent Poirier.

It look like the Clint Capela trade is pretty much done, it's all on Butler and the Sixers now.

Clint Capela trade rumors: Rockets have taker for big man, per report, won't deal him unless they get Jimmy Butler - 22 hrs ago

But if it doesn't work out then Vincent Poirier is the guy.  I think it will cost too much to make the money work for Adams but I could be wrong.

We might even sign him even if we make a trade for Capela or Adams because I think his staemnt is more about plaing time than about being the starter. I think if he comes off the bench and gets 20-25 minutes a night he'll be fine with that.

For those into stats and all that her's his data:

I do think that if R. Williams is a raw Capela, then this guy falls somewhere in between the two.  I will say that R. Williams showed hits of a mid range game, so given time he could be the est of the three but clearly not right now.  Here are some highlights, pretty much dunks and blocks.

Butler and the 76'ers made the deal with Miami, so no Capela trade.  While I was surprised to see us pick up Kanter, mainly because I thought he would cost more, I'm not surprised we got Poirier.  This Poirier deal has been in motion since at least April when we thought we would still have Horford for the long haul, so its not a desperate grasp for a big, its a guy we've been liking and wanting for some time now.
