For a finesse shooting offensive big, I'd rather gamble on Frank Kaminsky (very versatile offensive player that has never had an opportunity to show that off) at a fraction of Olynyk's cost.

Or go for a slightly different style of player in Jamychal Green - can't pass or create, undersized so strictly a 4 or small lineup 5, but strong shooter/rebounder with adequate defense.

Trade for Mo Bamba or Jakob Poetl?
I like both those guys.

Poeltl would be cool. Just a hard worker. Does the nitty gritty. Doesn't need much touches. Just grabs rebounds, plays D and makes intelligent plays offensively. Perfect role player. Hard to see a trade that makes sense. Smart too valuable. Maybe Poeltl and picks for Smart? Not enough else on C's roster of comparable outside of Smart. Either far too valuable or far too little.

Mo Bamba has more upside. I love his defensive talent. I am not willing to give up Jaylen or Tatum for him though. I wonder if Orlando would accept a trade package based around Smart & (non Memphis) draft picks. I'd happily do that.

Any news on Vincent Poirier?  I really liked him, think he fits with our guards, and he was linked to the Celtics.

Which part is ridiculous? Kelly has consistently ranked in the top third in DRPM...
do you divide big men into
good defenders - like 10% of them
And the rest 90% that can’t defend and not being worth of a roster spot

Oh really, because I missed him on this list for centers

http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/ORPM/position/9

and this one for PF he is 24th.

http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/DRPM/position/6

Where were you get your 3rd stats?  No where do I see him third, unless it is a heat only page, perhaps?

He is also very soft aside from the Kevin Love thing.

I can't understand why Olynyk is even being mentioned.

because " Chief " might kill himself  :D

Because some one mentioned it earlier in the thread, perhaps, that happens here a lot if you go through the pages.

We're going to need some pretty good stop-gaps if we want to stand a chance against Philly and the Bucks.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

If we can end up over the cap in this potential S&T deal with Charlotte that would help a lot so that we could use the 10 mil mid level exception instead of the 5 mil room exception.  Maybe new free agent Derrick Favors could be a possibility.

I mentioned him! One thing to note about Kelly . He had a bonus kicker clause in his contract for 2018 if he played 1700 minutes he would get like a million dollars more. With 25 games to go he was playing so well that spoelstra couldn’t bench him and had him playing 30 plus minutes a game. That million was what would bring the heat over that luxury tax so pat reily had all the incentives to bench him and still wouldn’t do it... eventually they had to sacrifice McGruder who was on a very team friendly contract to get under the luxury line.
perspective is important

If we could trade for Bamba we'd have the all smarty pants team:  Bamba, G. Williams, Brown,

(not talking about basketball iq, mind you, G Williams floor savvy aside.)
