Quote
"As a team, I don't know where Milwaukee goes from here," Pierce said when trying to decipher the team's loss. "I think the series is over."

The fevering hate Pierce has collected as a player and commentator led fans to use his blunt assessment as fuel to further attack their favorite heel.

While many have accused the ex-Celtic of favoritism when delivering his take, Pierce backs up his polarizing opinion with an optical description of the game.

"When I watched this today, if Giannis doesn't have a monster game and someone else behind him doesn't set up Boston is just going to out-talent them," Pierce continued.

Pierce knows better than to pile dirt on an opponents’ grave after Game 1, but I love it anyway. He’s a Celtic to his core.

Ha. Better than Bill Simmons, who would be pulling for our opponent and calling it a reverse jinx at the end of the series when we won.

  • GOT IT!!!
What adjustments can the Bucks make? Make more shots? Their defensive philosophy got destroyed today. Series is far from over but the C’s gotta be confident now. Lopez was in fact played off the floor. I doubt Giannis gets controlled like that all series but their defense will give the C’s more open looks than vice versa. Just depends on whether they go in or not.

The Bucks need better officials because they only went to the line 24 times to 8 for us. They think they deserve more of a disparity.   ::)

I love it! Like Roy said, Pierce is a Celtic to the core! I love it when retired Celtics show their pride and stick up for the franchise.

What's with Pierce's glasses these days? He was a great shooter his whole career without them, now he wears them even when he's sitting in the stands attending games, not just reading sheets at the desk.

Yeah, exactly where I'm at.

Plus, Giannis was only 4 points off his playoff average this postseason.

One game...does not make a series.

I love Paul, but I hate the thought of Paul's quote hanging in Milwaukee's dressing room.

Giannis was getting 24 against the Pistons each game...

I don't think most fans outside of Boston take what Paul Pierce says very seriously (fortunately).  As to the series, Milwaukee is a better team than they showed today.  The Celtics better not let up even an iota.  Hayward appears to recognize this and I loved his statement about looking to take two games, not one.

Pierce clearly learned the art of homerism from Heinsohn quite well.

Game 1 is over.

Giannis played about as bad as he can possibly play.  He's been able to cook us normally.  Gonna be hard to get him to keep playing that bad.  Maybe he got use to playing trash Detroit defense and needs to adjust.

As long as Lopez is on the floor, Horford will abuse him on the pnr. Their defensive strategy won't work on a versatile, veteran-laden Celtics.
