You can also look at it like this is the 3rd high-level point guard whose career this team has busted up and had to pick up the pieces after they left, while they curse everything green.

Where do you think

Irving will join the Bucks imo... as long as the Bucks don't win it all, then there isn't a need for him

but if they fall short.... don't be surprised if he joins them

I don't think he liked the taste/can handle big market media/scrutiny

Only way he returns to the Celts is CBS is fired. And half the team is gone. Hayward, Brown etc.

Tatum his buddy stays.  Smart stays.  AD is brought in via trade. Other vets that compliment Irving need for space are traded for/signed/drafted.  Basically Irving running the show/architect

something like

1. Celts sign Lue as coach
2. Brown, Rozier (sign and trade), multiple 1st including 2019 Memphis 1st for Davis
3. Hayward traded

If you remember when he got here that first year he averaged an efficient 20 a game, he trusted his teammates. The Celtics went on a nice winning streak. The ball actually moved around as he got to know his team. Then he got injured and we never saw that player again.

Somewhere along the line Superstar Uncle Drew took over and the Celtics offense became one dimensional and predictable. He lost trust in his teammates. It became his duty alone to close out close games. Our players then began to imitate him, knowing once they had the ball in their hands they'd never get it back if they gave it up. Everyone became an iso player.

I really feel he is looking for an Anthony Davis type of megastar to take the pressure off of himself. Someone who will get him off the hook that he trusts.

Just trying to put it all together on why it may not have worked in the Locker room this year. Is this really the guy we want leading us to the promised land? Some interesting Kyrie quotes throughout the year.

"I wouldn't consider myself, like, a natural singer. I just developed it over time, honestly, just listening. I'm a great listener to music." - 2011

"All I do is sit at home and watch Netflix." - 2012

"The only thing I command is respect." - 2015

“This is not even a conspiracy theory. The Earth is flat. It’s right in front of our faces. I’m telling you, it’s right in front of our faces. They lie to us. What I’ve been taught is that the earth is round, but if you really think about it from a landscape of the way we travel, the way we move and the fact that, can you really think of us rotating around the sun and all planets aligned, rotating in specific dates, being perpendicular with what’s going on with these planets.” - 2017

"If you guys will have me back, I plan on re-signing here." - Oct 4

“Right now I think it would be nice if we had someone that was a 15-year vet” - Nov 12

"The young guys don’t know what it takes to be a championship level team." - Jan 13

"I had to call Bron, and tell him I apologize for being that young player that wanted everything at his fingertips, I wanted to be the guy that led us to a championship. I wanted to be the leader. I wanted to be all that." - Jan 16

"Ask me July 1. I don't owe anybody Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.." - Feb 1

On being worried about the C's playing poorly - "Because I'm here." - Feb 24

"I'm an actual genius when it comes to this game." - May 3

On shooting struggle - "Who cares? For me, the 22 shots? I should have shot 30. I’m that great of a shooter." - May 6

"I'm going to be honest with ya. I’m just trying to make it back to Boston first. You know, safely. See my family. Decompress. You know, do what human beings do."  May 8

Thoughts?

The bucks are in cap hell and just signed bledsoe to a multi year extension. Can we at least try to keep it logical?

Brooklyn, Lakers, or Knicks.

I hope he goes to the Lakers and he and Bron get their butts kicked by the Warriors, Rockets etc for the next few years.

i can't believe posters i generally respect as knowledgable think he would go sign with a guy he hated playing with for 4 years...

Give me
Irving
Smart
Brown
Horford
Davis

And a bench of
Beverly
Moore
Carter
Morris
Baynes

And how is this roster possible??

who is Moore, Carter?

I imagine he wants to trade Hayward and Tatum for Davis, bring back Etuan Moore the Pelicans SG in edition to Davis. Resign Mook with bird rights, Beverly with the MLE and Vince Carter on the vet min.

I see

can't see Irving wanting to see Tatum go, if he gets the keys to design that roster

If it were up to Kyrie, I see him pushing to trade Brown instead of Tatum. He and Tatum are bosom buddies from all accounts, Tatum being the Robin to Kyries Batman.

Basically, is he a guy you want leading your team, a guy you want to pay $190 million?...

didn't you hear?  they kissed and made up.

honestly i'm thinking if he doesn't join up with KD, then he'll look around and see that joining Bron in LA is probably his easiest way to get back to being relevant without having to take on leadership responsibilities.

You know - I was seriously asking myself this SAME QUESTION about 14 years ago when I saw THIS

Of course - fast forward the NBA Pay scale and THAT withholding I think PP34 was at a crossroads THEN - as Kyrie is at one NOW.

I believe it all worked out in the end for our beloved former Captain.

It WILL work out for Kyrie if he stays - and faints not.
