No. Fans hated pierce in 2005. Most of us wanted him gone. All it takes is adding KG-like Savior to rehab kyrie’s Celtic image. If Anthony Davis can carry us to contention in the same way Garnett carried Pierce, this will all be a distant memory. Also, the act of choosing Boston and signing here will alleviate a lot of the insecurity-based fan hate. A lot of fans hated Kyrie because they preemptively saw him as someone who was leaving. Him signing long term eases some of those Ray Allen-based abandonment issues Boston fans have.
Whatever happens I think it's safe to say this mixture of young, high draft picks (who would normally be drafted and playing their first few years on bad or maybe mediocre teams but racking up the individual stats) and superstars (or whatever the level right below superstar is called) is not a good match. Celtics need to choose which direction they want to go on and build accordingly.
