Kyrie is coming back here and it won’t be close.

Hard to imagine, but in a few weeks’ time, by July 1, the dust will settle and cooler heads will prevail on all sides.

I can see that scenario. Kyrie had a terrible series, but he's not the first guy to do so. Even Damian Lillard (who is BELOVED here) flamed out last year as the Blazers were swept in the 1st round.

Back to Boston.

He has unfinished business here.

I have to think his comments about never feeling like this when they lost 4-1, really explains how frustrated he is to have lost like that. I just wish he accepted some of the blame, and expressed some humility.

I am certain that he DOES.

I just don't think that Kyrie Irving does "Media" really well...he is apprehensive..cautious...and for GOOD reason.

IMO he is doing better with the media than THIS guy did

And right there Marcus Smart just showed how to be a real leader.

Any other team woulda begged to have kyrie.  Let's stop acting like we did something in a weak east conference last year

I REALLY, REALLY hope we get Smart AND Kyrie back next year.

Smart is a straight shooter.

I'm tired of Kyrie getting thrown under the bus exclusively.

Buses are BIG vehicles and there is PLENTY of room under them for a reason......

There needs to be some NBA Analysts, reporters and "SAUCES" under them, too..........

do you not want to win??

lets beat a dead horse that is already dead

Irving couldn't stand to be a #2 behind Lebron....even though that is the best position for him

Try to bring in AD, Durant.... Irving is just going to assume that this is his team

and this is where a team will stay in the black hole for a long time

Let Knicks, Nets etc.  take this responsibility. can care less

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
My stance on Irving is that he deserves the lion's share of the blame for the team's lack of togetherness this season. There is no "1a" culprit for me. It's:

Blame Tier 1: Irving
Blame TIer 2: ------------
Blame Tier 3: ------------
Blame Tier 4: Everyone else besides Al Horford, Aron Baynes, and Marcus Smart because they are the real heroes.

I believe that.

But I also believe that he's smart enough and driven enough to learn from this season and come back a radically different player. And be a radically different leader. Damian Lillard used his butt-whoopin from the Pelicans as an anvil to temper his leadership and poise and came back stronger. There is no reason 25 year old Kyrie couldn't do the same.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

Dame 2018 playoffs:
18/4/4/1/0 w/ 4 TOV on 35/30/88 splits
Swept first round

Kyrie 2019 playoffs:
21/7/4/1/0 w/ 3 TOV on 39/31/90 splits
4-1 2nd round loss

It sucks, but sometimes good players struggle at bad times. You resign him because the talent is evident and you hope he takes something from this experience.

Did anyone expect anything else from Smart?

I'm glad Smart didn't throw him under the bus. But I anticipated Smart having Kyrie's back.
If there is anyone in that locker room who I would trust to tell the real truth about the goings on inside the team, its Marcus Smart. I think Smart has Kyrie's back because he knows what was and what wasn't a problem. Obviously Marcus feels Kyrie's leadership wasn't the problem.

I wonder if any reporter followed up by asking:" Well, Marcus, if Kyrie's leadership wasn't a problem this year, what was?"

Id order it as situations best to last

Knicks if they get KD.
Clippers if they get Kawhi.
C's if they get Davis.
Knicks
Clippers
C's

I think he prefers a certain environment over winning. He wants praise and a chance at growing his brand. New York and LA best us in that.

To be honest, if literal Jesus signed with Boston, the fans here would whine and criticize him for the length of his contract.

we would then get quips like

looked like jesus

acts like judas

shoots like mary

Like when Johnny Damon left the Red Sox for the Yankees—looks like Jesus, acts like Judas, throws like Mary.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

Lakers if he's wise.  So he can be out of the media somewhat...or at least be second choice of the media to talk to.

When Lebron retires after 3 seasons Kyrie will be older and more mature and will be able to handle the media...

and they can pair him with some good free agents...
