At least retirement tour Kobe put up 60 on decent efficiency to close out his season.

I more meant Kobe over the last 20 games of his final run. Shooting splits of 38/30/87 with 17FGA per game in only 26MPG. Oh, and only 1.5 assists a game.

Sad that that's what I was reminded of, lol.

If Kyrie re-signs here and plays at an all-star level, will fans “rally around the family” and appreciate him for his strengths, rather than criticizing him for his faults?  Or will people brutally ride him, when he deserves it (this playoff series, lousy leadership) and when he doesn’t (pretty much his play on the court the entire regular season and first round).

I think Kyrie is a guy that needs to be embraced. Can our fans show him the love that he needs?

I love watching him play. He is a special talent. But he was a liability on defense most of the season and esp this last round.

I will give him praise when he deserves it....he had some great games to watch. I just dislike the off court garbage and attitude.

I do think if he get an AD in here things will be better.

I think there are certain fans who simply will never embrace him. I hope they do if he sticks around, but I don't think they will

Some people will never like him (which is true for pretty much every player), but I think him signing long term would stop a lot of the questions about his loyalty and willingness to stick around, which would bring some people around
I'm bitter.

For me it depends on a couple of things.  Will he take ownership of the teams struggles after having the off-season to reflect?  It would be nice to hear some humility.

Aside from that, I hope the finality of a new contract will lead to more patience throughout the grind of the regular season.  The pressure of expectations clearly broke Kyrie.  He treated this season like it was all or nothing.  Hopefully that changes with a long term commitment.

When I read the thread title, I thought the OP meant "If Kyrie signs here, will we get 4-5 years of whining from HIM?"

To which I would say, yes.

I'm out on Kyrie until I get at least a solid 4-6 months of him just shutting up and playing really consistent, solid ball that obviously helps the team win games, followed by a strong playoff run where he comes up big in the clutch.

He was a miserable sourpuss all year long, super passive aggressive, sabotaged the team chemistry, never took any real responsibility, talked himself up as such a freaking genius and a basketball savant, born to play big in the playoffs, blah blah blah, and then he completely fell flat in four straight games when the team needed him to finally put up.

And then, when he failed to "put up," he once again failed to "shut up."

I'm totally sick of Kyrie and if the team re-signs him it's going to take a huge redemption over an extended period of time for me to come around to having him on the team.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

This is not true

He was on a good path in year 1

Did we ever hear him talk BS?

It was after what happened with a Kyrieless Celts squad that made the ecf

He started to act up
