Not sure why Kyrie would go play with AD elsewhere when he likely can just play with him here with a way better supporting cast than what the Knicks would have. I would hope Kyrie realizes how important it is having versatile 2-way guys like Smart/Brown around who can protect him defensively while not slowing down the offense.

And if Hayward returns to form then we are flat-out loaded. Imagine a starting lineup of Kyrie/Smart/healthy Hayward/Horford/Davis, with Brown, Baynes, and maybe Mook/Rozier coming off the bench.

That team is probably better than the Warriors.

Contrary to popular belief, getting AD isn't a given. A lot of things still have to break our way - primarily the draft lottery. I believe if NY gets the #1 pick, they'll offer it for AD. Whether or not the Pelicans prefers to build around Zion or one of our guys is out of our control.

This doesn't make me any more worried than I already was- which honestly isn't that much.  I think we'll do what is necessary to both re-sign him and build a contending team this offseason, if the team doesn't contend this year.

Jalen Rose could be right with this prediction, but trust me that's what this is, a prediction. He's not saying this as a reporter and with sources to back it up.

I know folks gave him credit for being one of the first ones to break the Kawhi news (of him wanting out), but that was during a time when it was starting to become real clear something was up when Kawhi wasn't reporting back to the Spurs while he was out that often. Jalen also said KD to HOU was virtually a guarantee years ago.

We'll see how it plays out, but ESPN is making it blatantly obvious they want Kyrie in LA or NY  ::)

I wonder what video would cause the Pelicans to pick a player more, a video of an 18 year old player dominating in the NCAA or video of a 20 year old playing excellently(18/8/2/1/1 with efficient scoring and great defense)deep in the NBA playoffs?

Even if NYK or someone else gets the #1 pick, NOP could still decide Tatum's already mature, well rounded, productive game that has been proven can be played at the most important of times, is way more a sure thing and more valuable than a kid that shows obvious limitations in his game and is still questionable as to being an NBA success.

Yeah, ESPN has become the definition of fake news with an agenda

Agenda: Rip apart the teams that have been successful over the last several season and pimp the Knicks and Lakers so people will think they'll return to relevance.

I truly think if he leaves us, his career is not going to be remembered like he wants it to be. Even if he goes to NY and wins a ring, he’s going to have to do it with someone like KD or AD (and Zion?) who will get more credit.

He can build a legacy here as a Hall-of-Famer and win multiple titles as the face of the franchise.

If he’s unhappy here, and DA is willing to bring in AD for him and that’s not enough, he probably won’t be happy anywhere.

Playing for Dolan and the media scrutiny in NY? That’ll get old fast for him.

Let’s just try to maximize this season and see where we stand.

With that said, let’s go full circle and bring back IT for the MLE.

Agreed with everything, except the part of bringing back Isaiah. Don't need him. Ship has sailed and it's time to move on.

Are you okay with overpaying Rozier to be the starter? What other PG who can actually facilitate AND score would you prefer while being over the cap?

*All this is assuming IT returns close to form, of course.

I think I'd rather stick with Rozier or Smart. Though I think Rozier has some weaknesses like sometimes lacking basketball IQ, I also think he's going to continue to get better. He's also younger and healthier than Isaiah.

I think selling tickets could be a legitimate concern for New Orleans, which would naturally make them lean towards Zion. He's also got a controlled rookie contract for 2 more years than Tatum.

However, if they were concerned about getting closer to winning, I think they'd go Tatum. Way less raw than Zion

I actually found it hilarious when ESPN & Lakers fans were upset KD wouldn't even take a meeting with them years ago during his FA since he was "required to" because of the Laker heritage. As if Durant owes them anything  ::)

Regardless of how significant it is or isn't, the media will lap it up

Oh absolutely. For what it's worth, I have a gut feeling Durant is leaving GSW. Don't think it'll be for the Knicks though. I think Brooklyn would be a more interesting fit for him.

If I were him that's where I'd go too actually. In today's game when you're as good as him you're going to get spotlight, and it's not like Brooklyn is some small market area. Plus, they have good young pieces in Russell, Allen, LeVert, RHJ and others.

Would be an elite 5 right there
