I agree.

It's time to stop worrying about Kyrie staying or going. Ainge has stocked the frig and either way the team is in a good space.

I truly think if he leaves us, his career is not going to be remembered like he wants it to be. Even if he goes to NY and wins a ring, he’s going to have to do it with someone like KD or AD (and Zion?) who will get more credit.

He can build a legacy here as a Hall-of-Famer and win multiple titles as the face of the franchise.

If he’s unhappy here, and DA is willing to bring in AD for him and that’s not enough, he probably won’t be happy anywhere.

Playing for Dolan and the media scrutiny in NY? That’ll get old fast for him.

Let’s just try to maximize this season and see where we stand.

With that said, let’s go full circle and bring back IT for the MLE.

I'm prepared to take Kyrie at his word until he breaks it. All the indications he's given is that a) he wants to be here; b) he intends to re-sign; c) he wants to build a legacy; d) he wants to be the reason nobody else but he (and his dad) will wear No.11. Despite all that there's still immense media speculation about his intentions.

Put it another way - would there be as big a media frenzy about Kyrie re-signing if AD hadn't requested a trade? There will always be speculation, particularly after the struggles at the start of the season but I suggest it would be a fraction of what we're seeing now. It was triggered off by Rich Paul's suggestions that AD wouldn't re-sign with the Celtics, which then was extrapolated to mean that Kyrie wouldn't re-sign if we couldn't get AD, which was then extrapolated to be that Kyrie was leaving.

We're planning to get married to him but we keep asking him if he loves us, keep needing affirmation, on a weekly basis, until he puts the ring on our finger. Anyone would get sick of it after a while.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Agreed with everything, except the part of bringing back Isaiah. Don't need him. Ship has sailed and it's time to move on.

I haven't heard anyone else say this but I was curious to get feedback on a thought I had concerning Kyrie resigning this summer.  To me it makes total sense for Kyrie and the Celtics for him to sign no matter what.  I think of his situation as similar to Blake Griffin's, not exact but some similarities.  Kyrie will get more money if he resigns with the Celtics than going to another team.  If they are also able to trade for AD then he gets paired with a top 5 player in Boston.  Worst case scenario, if he is unhappy a year into his new contract with the Celtics, we can trade him.  This way we wouldn't just lose him with no return.  Any feedback on my thinking?

It's a possible scenario, but certainly not an ideal one. If anything, I'd rather him not re-sign at all then wanting to be traded one year into a 5 year max deal.

Though I do feel Kyrie will be back, the Knicks do pose a threat from the standpoint of:

-They can also offer the Pelicans an attractive trade package centered around the no 1 pick on draft night in June for AD.
-The Pelicans accept the offer and deal AD to the Knicks.
-The Knicks end up beating us to the punch on AD.
-Come July 1st, Kyrie views the Knicks as a more attractive situation with Anthony Davis already in place.

I liked Danny's analogy, Kyrie and the Celtics are engaged but the wedding can't happen until July.  Until then, things can happen, engagements can be called off, but I still expect that it is more likely than not that the Celtics and Kyrie will consummate the marriage come the off season.

Kyrie has an eccentric streak so there is always an element of unpredictability but it is also impossible to predict unpredictability.  There is really nothing more anyone can say or do until the off season so all this tea leaves reading is silly.

Jalen and Antoine Walker adding their two cents.

Agree with those who say it's time to stop worrying and enjoy the ride with Kyrie.  If we win the title or come close with top level play from Kyrie, then I'll beg him to come back.

If we have an uninspired out in the playoffs with poor chemistry then let him go (instead of trying to fix the chemistry in his favor).

In the latter case, sign someone else to hit hero shots at the end of games.  IT if he's healthy?  Behind Rozier or another signed PG?  Let's say IT is healthy.  Rozier/signed PG could start and IT could be in the game when it's close and a bucket is needed.  Let's see if IT can play first.  I'd also enjoy Rondo behind Rozier....in that case hero shots have to come from hayward/tatum et all..

Actually, I think Rozier has a bit of clutch in him...Smart too but Rozier even more.

Are you okay with overpaying Rozier to be the starter? What other PG who can actually facilitate AND score would you prefer while being over the cap?

*All this is assuming IT returns close to form, of course.

If Kyrie leaves go after Kemba and Vucevic/another bigman.

Done.

Or if Hayward is back to his old self you start him as the primary playmaker at the sg spot with Smart as the pg.

Smart
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Center.

Phenomenal talent but can't say I'd miss him all that much.

other than maybe Shaq or Pierce ,  99 % of the talking heads are employeed in LA or NYC major media outlets .  They are from those cities and cheer for LA and NYC .  Of course they want ALL the greatest stars to land in one of those two places .  All those major guys are Lakers and Knicks fans .  If they aren't , they better be if they want keep, their job ......high..ratings are what they want associated with their show or names in big markets with zillion viewers.   Heaping praises on the Lakers or Knicks is job security.   No matter how awful LA and NYC ....its all they talk about . There are 28 other cities , but they are too busy sucking up to their the masses in LA and NYC .

Danny is confident he's keeping Kyrie, so there's no reason for the rest of us not to be. Especially not based on the opinion of a moron like Jalen Rose.

lol at people minimizing the impact if Kyrie leaves. We'd be losing one of the NBA's 10 best players. The only player of that type we currently have, and the only guy we have who we know can be an important cog in a title. But hey, let's sign a jag like Kemba Walker and resign ourselves to being no more than the 3rd or 4th best team in the East.

Irving waived his no trade kicker for extra money to come here, so if he had a change of heart it wouldn’t surprise me if he left money on the table again to sign elsewhere.

In a perfect scenario I do agree though so you don’t lose assets.  It may be that much tougher to match salaries in a trade with his increased salary unless if you are trading into cap space.

Rose's predictions about the Celtics are garbage.
