Oh BTW...Klay Thompson now wants to play with the Lakers and will do so unless GS offers him a max deal.

So the Lakers are going to have Kyrie, Klay. James and AD....Maybe they can draft Zion too.

Heard Jesus Christ himself was considering opting out of the final year of his contract with Heaven’s Hellions to join LA, too.

Seriously I have about as much credit as Ric Buecher. This (like the majority of NBA rumors) is BS. Consider the source people...

Bucher is a pretty well known and well regarded basketball analyst.  He has been doing it for a long time, working both for actual newspapers (including the Washington Post) as well as ESPN and now Bleacher Report.  He does TNT games as a sideline reporter, does commentary on NBA TV, and has a daily radio show on SiriusXM.  He is very well immersed in the NBA and has a lot of sources.  He isn't just some bum off the street.
This is what I'm getting at. And I'm also not saying it's true.  Stay tuned.  I do not believe that just because Kyrie made a public statement in October that he's going to resign it's 100% etched in stone that he will.  People are known to change their minds.  I'll be curious whether anyone with a little higher level of cred than Bucher weigh in on the subject.

Again, Boucher is a nobody. He’s a NBA writer/analyst, sure, but so are lots of people that don’t have any legit sources, like Keith Smith.

Besides, as RJ pointed out, what you’re waiting for has already occurred, as Jackie Mac has already debunked these reports, which is both (a) more consistent with what Kyrie has said all along, and (b) more believable given that Jackie Mac is actually one of the more plugged in people to the C’s, who are pretty tight-lipped as is.

Wondering if by sports journalism standards a "source close to the Celtics" could be, say, an agent who represents one of their players? Like Rich Paul who represents Morris? Just thinking.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't know what's going on with Kyrie. How does he play FULL GAMES and then come up with unknown injuries with no recognition of any injury in the previous game. Is there some sort of thing going on with a trade of Kyrie? I mean I hope this is just my mind going crazy here but what is up? Now he's doubtful for tomorrow's game as well which nobody had any idea of until he was out for the Monday game.

They don't want him to miss the playoffs

Unless we get into a position of a home court advantage we will be done in the first round anyway.

Who’s beating us in the first round?

Anybody we play if we don't have home court advantage.

As long as we're healthy I still think we can beat PHI and IND (w/o Oladipo) without home court. But yeah against MIL/TOR we're in trouble but we aren't facing them the first round.

Yeah, that's just a strange comment. I know Indy isn't totally helpless, but I thought it was pretty much assumed that they would fall to at least 4 (and most likely 5). If even just Philly passes them and we begin floundering, then I imagine we can at least beat an Oladipo-less Pacers team even as the 5th seed...and that is like a worst-case scenario.

This is a conspiracy of the highest order.  They are trying to create dissension amongst Celtic fans and our actual lockerroom.   The Celtics should ban kyrie and the entire team from reading or watching news until this blows over like they are a sequestered jury.   Also, Danny Ainge should file a restraining order against LeBron on behalf of Kyrie.  Keep his instagrams a minimum distance from our beautiful boy.   Somethings gotta be done here... tell kyrie that Los Angeles is too close to the edge of the Earth and one long overdue quake is going to send him tumbling into space.  Kyrie, stay in Boston where it’s safe.

Lots of folks are in denial right now

Just like the whole Fultz situation

But evidence is right in front of us

1. Irving calling Bron
2. Irving struggles with young teammates
3. Bron twitting some cryptic message for Kyrie to "return"
4. Anthony Davis making demands now vs offseason in hopes to join Irving

Until Irving comes out in the next day or two and laughs at this... then all evidence points to "truth" what Bucher tweeted

Also when has anyone seen Lebron send out a desperation/cry for help tweet like that? Its just fishy

Dude... what are you even talking about?

https://mobile.twitter.com/chris_broussard/status/1088979257026502658

I think that Tweet and opining whether Lebron would like to be a teammate or have a sexual relationship with Kyrie is a new low point for journalism. Sigh...

Mods I am almost wondering if it is possible for us to have a new category called "NBA Soap opera" added to the board where people can post theories about instagram songs sung by players and low level unsourced rumors and the like. I know I am not the only person on this board that would like to actually discuss the basketball without having to click on the new forum topics and go through pages before someone is posting an instagram song and suggesting it means a player will leave in free agency. is this something that would make sense for the board?

Mods this was a serious request if we can have a gossip section for discussions that are several bars below a woj or shams announcement. In my humble opinion it really gets confusing when things like Lebron singing a song to kyrie on Instagram gets sparked as a rumor or news of the same level. You dig through through 4 pages of posts and then finally see it is all based on nonsense.

I know I am not the only one that doesn’t enjoy the Instagram/Twitter/snapchap discussions for player gossip

Or maybe his source is his podcast co-host, a NBA player that actually played with Irving in Cleveland, also played in Boston, and several other teams in the league.  Bucher still covers NBA televised games.  He is on the sideline.  He has immense access to players, executives, etc.  He hosts a daily satellite radio show, does a regular podcast where he consistently has well connected people appear, etc.  He isn't just some scrub or hack.  He has been doing this a very long time on the national level.

I haven't seen all of Jackie's comments, but the one on the Around the Horn about concerns Irving may leave certainly wasn't as clear as many on this board made it seem.  In fact, she said flat out Irving was maybe a little unsure, that he was frustratred, etc.  Nothing concrete, but the door was left open.

I will leave it at this.

IF rich paul is behind all this, there is no reason that cannot be proven, then he should be fined HEAVILY.

If Colangelo got in a huge amount of trouble for burner accounts on twitter.....this is waaaaaaaay worse.

It potentially destroys teams.

Who would fine him? I don’t believe the NBA has that power.

Who would force Haynes to give up his source? The NBA certainly doesn’t have that power.

Where do you think writers get their sources from? Most of it is trading favors: I give you news / rumors, you help me push my narrative.

probably not, but who the hell knows, I was stating that more for the implication that Bucher is a nobody. He isn't.  He has connections across the league.

Yeah, maybe this would be more believable if it wasn’t counter to everything that we’ve heard from Kyrie himself. And that’s not even getting into the fact that people with more access to the C’s - i.e. Jackie Mac - have already categorically denied this and called it Rich Paul propaganda.

But, hey, this report is contrary to the popular narrative, especially here, so we know for a fact that Moranis believes it.  ;D
