Smart loses the game with failure to box out

amazing

"You guys are all blind here"

That was Tatum's responsibility as the third guy in the lane. Smart was out past the three point line and, thus, not his responsibility  ::)

It was Smarts. Lol. You just can never blame him can you?

You must be Smart's biggest fan on here by far? Am I right?

In what world is it the job of the guy on the perimeter to box out the guy shooting the free throw, who is literally FIVE FEET IN FRONT OF HIM? That is nonsense. That's clearly Tatum's job.
agreed. but it should not have come to that point. celtics had their chances and did not convert.

still, to play a game with flaws, as the celtics did, and almost beat GS, that is encouraging. this team can win it all this year. it has the talent to do so.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

We had a ton of chances to win this down the stretch. Missed too many open looks and committed too many turnovers in the last few minutes

Celtics need bigs. I heard Marc Gasol is on the market.

Or could also use Robin Lopez.

Rozier and Hayward combined for 4 points. Pathetic.

35 mill this season for those 4 points

Still have no idea why Brad didn't put in Baynes or Theis (or both) for that free throw. Ugh

It was Smart who failed to box out the foul shooter.

Smart came flying in the paint and missed a chance for a rebound.
If Smart boxed out Draymond, he would have gotten the rebound.

We need a vet coach or some vet players.  This combo isn’t working.

I'm a little baffled at this conclusion after that game.  Basically played the Warriors toe to toe throughout the game.  And could have won if they'd boarded a FT.   You conclude Coach-Player combo isn't working after tonight?  Worked pretty well tonight.

Maybe he thought we were playing the Cavs again  :blank:

Leta all personally thank Kyrie for giving this away in the fourth with his carelessness

Hopefully this loss will convince Ainge to make a move.

This Celts team still needs an upgrade IMO.
They're just too dependent on the 3-point shot and they're not a good rebounding team.
yeah, too dependent on 3 pointers. i wish they were more like the world champion warriors and didnt shoot so many of them.  ::)
Well the Warriors have arguably 2 of the best 3 shooters in NBA history, and a guy who for his career hovers around the 50/40/90 mark with 27PPG. We have nothing close to their shooting talent outside of Kyrie

Great game. They can play with the Warriors and maybe can beat them in a series.

Some brain farts down the end, a bad bounce, the opposition getting 22 more FTs while hitting FTs at 86% and Morris had the wide open, almost uncontested, 3 to put Boston up with 10 seconds left and bricked it.

I am very encouraged by this loss. I feel better about this loss than I feel about the +20 win against the Cavs.

The problem is that Nba guys don’t bother to block out the shooter ever. Yeah, no way was it smarts job to get the rebound from outside the lane.

I agree with that, but having another big in there would have made Tatum probably not have to double the GSW guy

The big that would not hurt the Celts' chances of getting Anthony Davis is Vucevic.

Celts can get Vucevic then go after AD in the summer.

We had a good chance to win it.  We could have played quite a bit better.

I'm not that disappointed with the loss itself.  But the play from our bench players was abysmal.  Hope we figure it out soon.

Yep, again. In  that situation boxing out the shooter is smarts job.

No, that is simply incorrect. You can't freaking box out a guy five feet in front of you. That's, like, by definition a paradox, given that "boxing out" means being in front of the player and in between the player and the ball.

The guys on the perimeter are to crash the boards - not somehow supersede physics and box out the shooter.
