Smart loses the game with failure to box out

amazing

"You guys are all blind here"

That was Tatum's responsibility as the third guy in the lane. Smart was out past the three point line and, thus, not his responsibility  ::)

It was Smarts. Lol. You just can never blame him can you?

You must be Smart's biggest fan on here by far? Am I right?

Great game! Shame we ended up on the wrong side of it but we pushed them all the way despite getting minimal contributions from our bench (excluding Jaylen). Gordon and terry were anonymous on offense. Some bad shot options and miscommunications on defense in the last few mins cost us. Clearly they’re the standard but I thought we measured up fairly well. We will get better!

  • GOT IT!!!
There is no team in the East to fear. GS is gonna be impossible to beat unless the bench gets it together though.

Yep, again. In  that situation boxing out the shooter is smarts job.

Tough loss. But what a great game!

Not a great game - never great when the Celtics lose.
I hate GS - dynasty pretenders

No pretending. For real. Hats off to them.

i give credit to the warriors for playing some good defense at the end of the game. that and celtics being cold for 5 mintues did the celtics in.

sigh.

i still imagine what this team would be like if hayward were hayward. gosh, he really sucked tonight.  :( :P

but, tps to console everyone.

Tatum was trying to help keep KD away from the boards.  There should have been a 4th guy at the line to block out green.  Just a failure on a lot of levels.

Lots of frustrating aspects of that game. Let’s see how we respond in our next three. Got to start making progress in the standings soon.

Marcus smart with a rare lack of bball iq.. block out the shooter!!!!
that was Tatum's assignment as the third man on the lane

No, it was on Smart. He comes flying in to the restricted area and missed the box out.
it's on Tatum.  he's in the lane to box out the shooter.  he was too focussed on the guy Al was boxing out

We need a vet coach or some vet players.  This combo isn’t working.

I'm a little baffled at this conclusion after that game.  Basically played the Warriors toe to toe throughout the game.  And could have won if they'd boarded a FT.   You conclude Coach-Player combo isn't working after tonight?  Worked pretty well tonight.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
We need Hayward to make a lot of progress by the playoffs.

Yeah this was the difference IMHO.

Exactly. We need someone to take the pressure off Kyrie - he can do some great things down the stretch, but GSW just has too many defensive weapons.

We need another go to scorer. Became too dependent on Kyrie. Hayward not close to being the guy we need.

Still think we match up well with them.

Last year's ball movement is gone in important games - we stand around and watch irving.
The Four Celtic Generals:

I'm pretty sure we only had 2 points total from our bench players in the entire 2nd half - Rozier's putback layup.  Can't expect to win like that.

lots of touch fouls on KD that could have been let go...honestly 6 FTs.

Hayward must contribute something to this team...watching him on the offense with no explosion, no lift, and no confidence is just brutal.

the difference is just 2 points which easily could have come from Gordon.

that FT bounce of the ball back to GS was also just brutal...not destined to win I guess.

Hopefully this loss will convince Ainge to make a move.

This Celts team still needs an upgrade IMO.
They're just too dependent on the 3-point shot and they're not a good rebounding team.
