I think we celtics fans talk too much.... and have too high standards for our team... the issue is this..  we have a team with more players that think that are first options than role players... irwing hayward horford brown tatum morris rosier can't accept a secondary role to my opinion.. shoot more pass less... and there are no bigs who scare opponents inside.. only williams could be one in 2 years.. so no inside defense.. not good passing game... jnjuries... solution? Wait till team is healthy.. trade at least 2 guys.. rosier morris?? Get a playmaker who passes first and a big who can block

you have to run with the guys you have..... Williams was the next number up yesterday or Theis...run with them. Why start Ojeleye at center.

Kobe has had a bad influence on Tatum, especially the beginning of the year, he we was trying to complicate every shot.

Morris has been one of better guys out there most games.

These players only meetings are always blown out of proportion. If people want to point fingers at the roster construction where is Ainge in all this? Trying to build a win now team and develop players at the same time is really hard to do. No coach is above reproach under these circumstances. People knew this wouldn’t be an easy transition unless some talent was consolidated.

Going small killed The Celtics on the boards.

When you give up 35 points in the first quarter its not "sharing the ball" that is the problem. It's starting a lineup with very poor interior defenders.

I have been saying it all season, Brad does not get it. We need a center on the floor at the beginning of the game. With everyone out, it should be Williams.

Williams is not very good with rotational defense right now.

Good point, but on the other hand, Semi and Theis and Yabu are scaring exactly zero opponents with their interior defense and altering zero close-range shots. Given the choice, I'd take the shot blocker at this point, especially against a team that has as much length as the Bucks.

I still think that blaming Boston's problems on "lack of role definition" is too simplistic an answer, for two reasons: 1) Playing good defense shouldn't have anything to do with your role on offense; and 2) Your role on offense shouldn't have any bearing on whether you can consistently known down open shots—if most of your shots are not contested, yet you're still missing quite often, you're just not doing your job on offense as a professional basketball player. When a player rises up to take an open shot, he's not thinking about his offensive role, or his minutes, or why he's not content with his situation on the team; he's thinking about making the shot. And if he's shooting poorly or inconsistently, that's on him.

I agree.

Ojeleye started to defend Giannis. Hayward started guarding Lopez which makes sense because Lopez doesn't go into the paint anymore and is a crappy rebounder. The starting lineup jumped out to a 10-2 start. They weren't the problem last night (aside from Hayward shooting abominably).

And after the start, the starting unit got clobbered.

Don't recall any meetings last year concerning selfish play. What's changed? Wondering if anything was addressed about superstars not playing defense?

Not really. The Bucks got back into the game against the starters but did the most of their damage after the first round of subs came in and did so by knocking down every 3-pointer they took.

Williams is not very good with rotational defense right now.

Williams can plug the middle and prevent easy layups by bigs like Giannis, Drummond and Ayton. Nobody else can. That's why Ainge drafted him. So use him in that role.

seems pretty reasonable to me....but coaches are overthinking this.

Seems pointless, unless somebody had an idea regarding how to grow a couple of our swings into centers.

I think losing Al has hurt us BIG TIME and it's not because he's a "big".

I think Horford is the leader of this team.

Young guys and vets respect him.

Not sure Kyrie is best suited as a leader.
