This isn't very surprising

There was an article or survey a while back  revealed front offices and general managers participate in online message boards, forums, and social media for ideas and general fan gauging of ideas

involvement of ownership on player personnel moves varies widely throughout the NBA. Some allow their general managers to make decisions entirely on their own, while others offer their input on a regular basis.

Ownership will also consider the reactions from fans before signing off certain moves.

"One NBA executive told me a few years ago that he’s heard of owners lurking on RealGM and Reddit to take the temperature of their fan bases before finalizing trades," writes Kevin O'Connor.

Certain trade rumors and articles suggesting a course of action for a team are often posted on RealGM and Reddit forums where a discussion then begins on its merits amongst fans.

That may be true, but I'm afraid that those in Boston's front office simply LOL at us, on here. I think. Didn't someone mention that, albeit perhaps a few years ago? I can't remember.

Colangelo has told close associates that he believes he knows who is responsible for the tweets but has insisted to those inside and outside the investigation that he had nothing to do with the postings and was unaware of them until The Ringer brought them to the Sixers' attention prior to publication of the story this week, league sources said.

Ownership fears that Colangelo's credibility inside and outside the organization may be too badly damaged to continue his job, especially within a month of a July free-agency period when the Sixers plan to pursue superstars such as LeBron James and Paul George to partner with young stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

The tweets mentioned the Sixers have video footage, presumably from their practice facility, of Fultz's trainer, Keith Williams, instructing Fultz to shoot while sitting on a chair laying on his back. Only a small circle of Sixers would have been privy to that information.

They definitely should do so.   He's already skipped two agent-led draft prospect workouts since the story broke.  Letting it drag into next week would be stupid.

Next Philly GM: Maverick Carter.

David Griffin might serve that same purpose, and he is actually a good GM.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I have read that BC is Griffin's mentor and is considered part of the family.

Not sure they can get away with firing BC and then hiring his protege?

The Sixers have six picks in this draft there's a lot of work to do.

Friends and colleagues of Colangelo expressed disbelief that it could be him. He would not take risks like that; he would not call Ujiri, whom he hired to work for the Raptors, a “trust fund baby” living off Colangelo’s decisions; especially not when he was the son of one of the true titan executives and owners in the NBA, Jerry Colangelo. Defending his own famously high collars? Occasionally mangled English? As one source who knows Colangelo well said, “It’s close to what he says, but he wouldn’t say some of that stuff.” Even in off-the-record, late-night conversations with friends during his exile, Colangelo never slammed Ujiri.

The counterpoint was that in Toronto and Phoenix, Colangelo was both someone who evinced outward confidence and who held a deep insecurity. At summer league in Las Vegas, a media member once pointed out to Colangelo that he had a spot of mustard on a golf shirt; Colangelo would half-jokingly bring it up for months. Some staffers said he had a Google alert set for his own name, so anything written would pop up in his inbox. They said Bryan didn’t just read the coverage: he obsessed over the comments, too.

On a couple different podcasts, it was said there was surprise that a GM would do it but if one did Colangelo would be at the top of the list.

Read the story on the bus this morning.  What an absolute idiot.  Some pretty compelling & convincing evidence that it was him.

How about him floating the Fultz/Tatum trade idea weeks before the draft?  That's a bold strategy, Cotton.  Let's see how it plays out.

Woj gave a report on Sportscenter saying Colangelo is fighting for his job internally and claiming he didn't know his wife was tweeting from these various accounts.

It seems to me he knew she had various secret twitter accounts given they got deactivated quickly. I wonder if they will believe that he was unaware she was spewing such sensitive information and opinions of the 76ers players.

He also tweeted after the accounts had been made private that someone was out to get him.
The only question the Sixers should be dealing with is how best to get rid of him for cause.
