Why does anybody think these young Lakers players are enticing pieces in a trade?

Well, it seems like the Pelicans are at least listening, which must mean they possibly find these pieces enticing enough given the circumstances.

I find that surprising and difficult to believe, given everything I wrote above.

This is why I tend to think the Pelicans are just using the Lakers for leverage against the Celts.

The fact that Danny hasn't yet closed this deal (ie by including Tatum) suggests to me that he doesn't think the other bidders have particularly strong offers to make.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Lonzo Ball is a throw-in to me. Replacement level value.

Irving and Davis can both kick rocks. I'm much more interested in trading for Conley and starting Williams at Center. Trade Smart and two firsts for Conley. Or just trade Hayward for him straight up.

Conley
Brown
Tatum
Horford
Williams

Hayward off the bench

Yikes, that seems like a horrible idea.

I'd be down with Conley as a backup plan if Kyrie leaves, but not at that price.

What price do you think would be reasonable? Maybe Smart and the 20th pick? I would not include the Memphis pick.

I wouldn't include any picks if I'm sending out Smart.  Conley doesn't have that kind of value, given his age, injury history and contract.  I don't like sending out Smart, but realize he would probably have to go to make the money work.  Which is ultimately why I don't think Boston and Memphis make good trade partners here.

Is there another point guard you have in mind as a replacement for Irving?

I have to ask, what makes you think that Williams should be starting? I am pretty sure Williams might spend the whole year in Maine. He showed me nothing last year to make me think he is a rotation player next year, nevermind a starter.

And that Conley trade isn't financially legal. Salaries don't match and he isn't worth 2 firsts.

I figured the Conley trade might not be feasible but i'm interested in acquiring him if at all possible. As far as Williams, i think he has DPOY potential and i'm just as interested in him as i am in Tatum. I think he can lead the league in blocks his first year starting.

Steve Bulpett saying sources with ROC nation indicating kyrie is going to nets.

Could impact Davis negotiations.

You might be right about the blocks part but he won't be starting for some time. After the disaster that was caused because Hayward got "undeserved" minutes in some eyes, makes me wonder why anyone would want to give minutes to someone that probably truly doesn't deserve it

Anyway, topic for another thread. Thanks for the answer

My guess:
Plan A: Sign Kyrie and trade for Davis..if not
Plan B: Trade for Conley or Holiday..sign a C or PF
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

McMenamin says while Pels owner Gayle Benson denied the "over my dead body" story about not wanting to trade AD to LA, thinks that perhaps the words were incorrect but the sentiment is true

The report could be true, or it could be aimed at exactly this - impacting Davis negotiations.

The coach cannot coach superstars.

Riddle me this, just how good is Brad if this guy never has expectations, but when he does, he fails?

Objectivity over bias; as much as I bash the people who want Kyrie off your team, they have a point. This point is, to keep Kyrie, you must gut the toxic young guys & Brad. Why? This was shown to be a failed experiment with Kyrie on the team.

Unless you can get AD, it would not be the worst idea to let Kyrie walk. I would fire the overrated coach personally. Brad did not need Kyrie, he just needed Kyrie off the team.

If we had Kyrie last year, we sweep you guys. History is the proof. BUT, Kyrie wanted to be a whiny brat, so he got inserted in a worst situation.

History literally does not prove this, the opposite in fact. Cleveland didn’t even sweep a significantly weaker IT-less Celtics team in 2017 when they had Kyrie, so how were they going to do it in 2018 with a better team?

The entire league don't want the Lakers to succeed. David Griffin when he talks to other agents is hearing them tell him "Don't trade with the Lakers because then you'd lose. You lost to the Lakers."

Would much rather have Capela. Williams is nowhere close to being a starter.

They would start Baynes not Timelord and play Baynes/Horford all but a few of the center minutes.

Timelord would get his shot with 12-15 third string center minutes and have to show he can handle that.

I want my team to be composed of players that want to be a part of the single most storied franchise in the sport.

The winningest team in the sport

The team with the best fans on the sport.

I want celtics. Not crybabies.

No to davis
No to kyrie.

Sure, it would be wonderful to have only players who are 'true Celtics', but I literally don't care who is on the roster for our next championship team.
