Let's keep the core.. develop the youngsters... keep the picks

And wait a million years to win another championship

Would be that long and then some if they trade a ton for AD and he leaves after a year

Trading for AD isn't the only solution to improving the team for the short and long term. It's not as black and white as either trade for AD or just standing pat.

Oh I agree....just think AD would cost the most. I am all for making some deals if needed...just don't want to throw in a ton for a rental

I agree with you. If Danny can't get some kind of a commitment from AD and there is not sense in making the trade. The Celtics still have lots of assets and could make some big improvements this off season. Adding a couple of 3 and d guys would be really nice.

So apparently this interview happened in March, and we’ve heard from Aldridge since that time that AD would consider Boston even if Kyrie didn’t resign, though he’s much more likely to do so if Kyrie was onboard.

So, yeah, let’s not blow this out of proportion. Danny DEFINITELY has already heard all of this from Paul, and if he’s still pressing forward then he must believe that AD would be open to staying should the team mesh well.

Which makes me wonder why this story goes out now.  It's easy to say Rich Paul is trying to get Davis to the lakers but he doesn't decide when a story goes to print.  Why sit on it until now?

You drop it the day Kyrie has his opt out during the Finals (on an off day) to get the most clicks and news cycle attention. During the AD derby as well.

It's a magazine. Lead time for print could be several weeks to several months, so they may have conducted the interview with Rich in March because 1.) that's what his schedule allowed 2.) they wanted enough lead time for them to get this issue out to coincide with the end of the season/start of free agency.

The story is also more than just the interview, so it's possible the story was still being put together far past March.

In any case, we have heard reports of AD being open to Boston since the interview, so maybe this isn't some new information.

Could also be that a contingency of Paul doing the interview was the understanding that they wouldn't print it until around this timeframe.  Easy to predict that around now is when the AD trade discussions would be getting serious.

Rich Paul comparing the Lakers to Jennifer Lopez is creepy IMO.

And his rambling on about Nike etc is pretty obnoxious. Pretty sure Rich Paul cares more about earning a bit more money than he does winning.

Thursday is the opt out day for Kyrie right? So if anything was going to happen, that's the first day the reports would truly come out right?
