It seems to me that Kyrie may be headed to LA after this season. If that's his plan we are screwed because we can't even trade him and we can't replace his salary after he opts out. Is there any way we might be able to fool the Grizz to trade Conley for Kyrie or the Wizards to trade Beal for Kyrie. No, I didn't think so. Maybe we need to trade him now to NY for the #1 pick + Kanter.  Kyrie is already ruled out for Tuesday vs Cavs. Yes it's a bad team but similar to the Toronto win where Kyrie played great and all game with no injury all of a sudden has a hip injury. He sits a couple games and plays OKC and plays great and all game with no sign of injury. But now he has a hip strain again? Not sure what's happening but is he auditioning in high profile games and sitting prior to the trade deadline because of a trade?

No way he goes back with James where James is running the point and Kyrie is the sidekick.

Just heard on NBA radio that the Lakers have offered:
Baall, Kuzma, Ingram, Stevenson, Rondo & Beasley plus two 1st round picks (no details)

for Davis & Solomon Hill (bad contract)

I think they will take it.

If I am New Orleans, this package is the baseline of what I would accept for Davis. It's a pupu platter of young role players with very low likelyhood of becoming all stars, along with a couple draft picks in the 20s and salary cap relief veterans.

There is not a single all star in that package to build around. Boston can still beat that offer with a package that includes Tatum (high likelyhood of being an all star soon) and the Memphis pick (assuming it roles over a year), plus a combination of other players picks.

If I am NO, I still wait to hear the best offers at draft time / this summer. I think he Lakers package will still be there.

Lakers offer won't still be there, because after trade deadline they can't take back salary. Not sure how important that is to the Pelicans.

They'll have cap space, so they could still take back a contract. It'd create a trade exception for NOLA.

But then they wouldn't be able to sign free agent, right?

If Im kyrie Im getting with Durant and going the knicks.   better than playing with a broke down hayward and an old horford that really have no chance of beating the top teams.

1.) Not sure how you're getting that he goes to LA from anything that's happening.
2.) He won't resign with either of those teams, they're not dumb so they won't give up assets for half a season rental. They're not even in position to make a playoff run.
3.) NEW YORK IS NOT TRADING THEIR PICK FOR IRVING. He will be a free agent. They will have cap space. Why give up assets for a guy you can sign outright? That's not happening. People need to move on from that.
4.) It's obvious they're resting him against bad teams right now.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson

SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I'm perfectly fine with the Davis hype being over if his destination list is accurate.  This isn't like trying to convince KG to commit to Boston before the Celtics lacked a competitive roster.  Davis is clearly being influenced by LeBron and his camp.  Boston should be high on the list if winning is the #1 priority.

For all the complaints about Irving, at least the drama surrounding him comes straight from his own mouth.  I genuinely believe the notion that Irving wont plan future moves in unison with other Superstars.  The idea of winning in Boston perfectly aligns with his comments about being his "own man".  Kyrie likes the attention but that doesn't mean he wants to partake in a media narrative that he didn't create.  Teaming up with AD, LeBron, Butler, or Kawhi would make him look like a major hypocrite.  He's put WAY too much out there to turn around and bail on Boston.

Do you realize how this ridiculous this sounds when we just beat the thunder yesterday, have beat the raptors twice, the bucks and just about any top in the league? I honestly can't understand this viewpoint.

Agreed. That would be a wacky narrative / ego blow for Kyrie.

I think he looks happier playing for the Celtics with the young talent then playing in Lebrons shadow in Cleveland. With the Celtics Kyrie can ball and lead. In LA he is in a circus tent under Lebron's shadow.

Hate to tell you but Kyrie and Durant aren't doing anything with that Knicks roster. They will have a top 5 pick and that is about it. They will be terrible. 6 or 7 seed.

Kyrie in much better shape staying in Boston with Smart, Tatum, Brown and Hayward (who will be fine next season).

They'd be in the same position if they traded for Hill in the deal now. They would probably try to stretch Hill.

The one advantage of not cashing for AD is you buy more time to wait out the Warriors. Boston will the youngest team in the league with the most talent.

I honestly can't think of a less likely thing happening than Kyrie playing with Lebron next season. I really can't believe that people are making the leap of "hey sorry i was kind of a jerk when i was super young with you" to "i miss playing with you, no longer want to be the alpha of a team and make my own mark in the nba and want to try and ride your coattails and do the opposite of everything i have said for two years."

Oleh Kosel: Adrian Wojnarowski on ESPN Sportscenter right now: “There’s still a long way to go before New Orleans and the Lakers have the possibility of a deal.”

More Woj: “The one thing the Pelicans want back in any trade is to know they’ve got maybe a future first, second, third team All-NBA type of player. They’ve got to decide if that player is on the roster of the Lakers. Is that Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma?
Now this info from Woj looks like it could be a leak from Danny Ainge. Who would know more what New Orleans was looking for with such details as someone who spoke with New Orleans in detail regarding a possible trade. And of course, the info being leaked paints the idea that the Lakers deal is not going to be enough.

I still think Tatum + Smart + Williams + 3 or 4 #1s beats that offer, and that’s not even our best package.
TP for saving me the time to type this.

LaVar Ball tells ESPN that if Lonzo Ball is traded, he wants his son to go to Phoenix: “We want to be in LA. But if he’s traded, I don’t want Lonzo in New Orleans. Phoenix is the best fit for him. And I am going to speak it into existence.”

I don’t come to the forums much these days because of life, but here is why Kyrie leaving makes sense for Kyrie:

He was drafted at age 19 by Cleveland.  8 years later, he’s had limited choice on where he gets to play and live.  Turning 27, this is his chance to choose his path.  Sure, he signed an extension with Cleveland, but the alternative was to wait out restricted free agency, so it wasn’t really much of a choice.  For someone like Kyrie, I think the opportunity to choose a team, rather than being drafted or traded, will really be valued.  You can even hear a bit of that mindset in the interview last Friday: “I spent the last 8 years trying to do what everyone else wanted me to do.”

The decision for Kyrie won’t be about winning, or loyalty, or endorsements.  It will be about proving to himself as much as anyone that he is in control.  And re-signing in Boston will be too much of a reminder that he did not choose his current situation, and he will go elsewhere.
