The Los Angeles Lakers have improved their offer to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis to include taking back Solomon Hill along with Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and two first round picks.

Dell Demps and Magic Johnson have been in touch twice on Monday.

If this is the deal I expect the Pels will buckle. And if so, Boston's future becomes a bit clearer as well as cloudy on the Kyrie front.

Interesting how the expiring Laker contracts were intended to create cap space this off season, and can now be used to absorb bad contracts as well. That stinks.

I still think Tatum + Smart + Williams + 3 or 4 #1s beats that offer, and that’s not even our best package.

Yeah it beats it. By why offer all that with a huge riak of him leaving.

Tatum amd smart are off the table.

its sad to see NO be part of rebuilding the Lakers . I just could not do it , if i was in the WC.    Thats all the Lakers do is rob the small market teams .

Really sucks for the NBA

Just heard on NBA radio that the Lakers have offered:
Baall, Kuzma, Ingram, Stevenson, Rondo & Beasley plus two 1st round picks (no details)

for Davis & Solomon Hill (bad contract)

I think they will take it.

If I am New Orleans, this package is the baseline of what I would accept for Davis. It's a pupu platter of young role players with very low likelyhood of becoming all stars, along with a couple draft picks in the 20s and salary cap relief veterans.

There is not a single all star in that package to build around. Boston can still beat that offer with a package that includes Tatum (high likelyhood of being an all star soon) and the Memphis pick (assuming it roles over a year), plus a combination of other players picks.

If I am NO, I still wait to hear the best offers at draft time / this summer. I think he Lakers package will still be there.

The Pels should demand Zubac and Hart instead of Ball.

Can't see Lonzo and Daddy Ball wanting to be in the NOLA market.

If I am the Pels, I think long and hard on the Fakers offer that includes Kuzma, Ingram, Zubac, Hart, 4 picks and the fillers that give me cap relief.

If Pels wait till summer, would we be able to include cap relief for them as it's a new season? if not, Fakers offer looks pretty good.

I think Tatum plus other young players and lottery picks easily beats cap relief plus young players and picks in the 20s.

And you are right that Ball probably has low appeal. Daddy Ball makes Lonzo a lockerroom distraction.

I want to see the plan if they do not get AD. Will Boston stay young and make their picks? Will they move the picks for an established player (Beal) or someone Kyrie wants to play with? Will they package and move up in the draft targeting one player?

My guess is NO is going to force Danny to promise Tatum if they hold off until the summer.

I would not trade Tatum for AD because of there is no real promise he resigns with Boston. Not worth the chance.

Would rather just stay as is keep building with the draft.

Danny will have to promise Tatum now, otherwise two very bad things happen: Davis goes to LA, and Kyrie leaves for nothing.

If they do, a team of Davis, James, and bunch of misfits doesnt scare me..be 6th or 7th seed..Melo is not player he once was..James if getting old and those PEDs gotta catch up with him
weren't they the 4 seed when James got hurt?

Do you think they would be in 4th right now if he had not gotten hurt?

The Lakers' ideal is obviously to get Davis now and use him and LeBron to lure in Kawhi in the offseason. I wonder how much taking on Hill's $ would affect that. If they cash out all their picks getting Davis I'm not sure what they'd be able to give to get someone to take on that deal.

Anyone know how hard it'd be to finagle their way into a max salary slot in that scenario?

Reports are saying they'd stretch him...if I'm not mistaken that's years left x 2 + 1 or 3 years, so about a $4.4 million hit each year.

Lakers offer won't still be there, because after trade deadline they can't take back salary. Not sure how important that is to the Pelicans.

I dont know how you can feel good about keeping Kyrie now if Davis is adamant about not wanting Boston.  Im sure he’s talked to Irving.  Obviously, kyrie isnt telling him to be patient and wait for Boston.

Lakers want a clean roster for next season. This allows Lebron to go get who he wants. By burning down pretty much everything for AD it allows them to do that. Would just have a bunch of buyout guys that fall off at the end of the season.

Next year you have LBJ, AD, Hart and another max slot to go attract Leonard.

They'll have cap space, so they could still take back a contract. It'd create a trade exception for NOLA.

It seems to me that Kyrie may be headed to LA after this season. If that's his plan we are screwed because we can't even trade him and we can't replace his salary after he opts out. Is there any way we might be able to fool the Grizz to trade Conley for Kyrie or the Wizards to trade Beal for Kyrie. No, I didn't think so. Maybe we need to trade him now to NY for the #1 pick + Kanter.  Kyrie is already ruled out for Tuesday vs Cavs. Yes it's a bad team but similar to the Toronto win where Kyrie played great and all game with no injury all of a sudden has a hip injury. He sits a couple games and plays OKC and plays great and all game with no sign of injury. But now he has a hip strain again? Not sure what's happening but is he auditioning in high profile games and sitting prior to the trade deadline because of a trade?

Good point. Perhaps LA will have enough cap room to simply absorb a bad contract instead.
