Ainge can still negotiate with them and make offers. He just can’t pull the trigger until June, which shouldn’t matter to NO

My guess is Ainge has already had a ton of talks with NO. Hopefully they come to a gentleman's agreement now that can be executed in July.

Whatever happens with the picks involved, Boston would have to be picking players for NO.

Sounds like a homer thing to say, but if I'm New Orleans, I would wait on Boston, and then tank this season.

Just because they asked for a trade doesn't mean they can go to where they want. Boston, with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, sign and trade Terry Rozier, whoever they pick with the Sacramento pick, and the Memphis pick, can still offer a far better package than anyone. It would be a disservice for the Pelicans if they don't wait.

And I would go as far as sitting out AD for a long period of time, and also take offers for Jrue Holiday, Nikola Mirotic and others, and just go on a full blown rebuild, and tank the rest of this season. Put yourself in a position to fast track your rebuild.
This.

Pelicans should shut Davis down for the year and tank and get as good a pick as a possible. Then wait until the summer for their pick of Tatum/Brown/Smart/picks/etc

how? phantom injury? cmon

This will only cause all of the "Davis is injury prone" to come back out of the closets.

It makes perfect sense for NO to wait. But we have seen in these days the players seem to be able to get what they want no matter the situation.

I am hopeful they wait this out and then look at Boston offering picks. Rozier. Brown, whatever...

IMO it makes more sense to trade him NOW as they will lose ALOT for the rest of the season and get a very high pick themselves.

They currently sit in 11th spot, shipping out davis will plummet them, shipping out jrue for picks and youth will get them into a top 5 pick along with all the assets acquired from trading Davis and possibly Jrue.

I will be shocked if Davis isnt wearing laker's gold by deadline...its what the league wants as they have not called tampering at any point so far.

Trade Irving then

Danny has no conscience

To NO: Irving, Morris, multiple 1sts
To Celtics: Davis
Kyrie is about to hit free agency. No way he would re-sign with the Pels. If we decide to trade Kyrie, we have to find a 3-way deal.

Why is a 3 way trade ok

but Kyrie has to be traded for Davis

I still don't get this Chris Paul rule

The Pels would be idiots to make the deal now. NOBODY can offer what Boston can. But will the give into Davis and his requests? That is the big question.

LAkers can offer what Boston can.

less a few picks I suppose.

Kuzma, Ball, Ingram is as good a package as Brown and Tatum...honestly.

Huge news. And it begins.

I would assume New Orleans is willing to hold off on dealing him until the summer, in which case we are 100% in the game.

Disagree

Too risky for NO

He will be traded between now and trade deadline

Book it

Why would it be risky?

The number of offers increases in the offseason. If you are the Pelicans, the more bidders, the better.

Yeah, there’s zero risk for NO in waiting until the offseason. Waiting until Boston can enter the bidding is their best move

No risk, but better reward if they trade now.

Higher pick, more picks, ability to see who works and who doesnt moving forward.

Ugh just what I feared. This sucks  :(

It also gives the impression that maybe AD isn't really high on coming to Boston, and if that's the case then Ainge isn't dealing Tatum and others + picks for what would be a rental. That's the other issue here, would AD be willing to re-sign here after a hypothetical trade IF traded here over the summer.

folks here said the Pacers would be "stupid" if they did this and that with PG13

NO is not going to wait around

and especially trust someone like Ainge

I wouldn't trust him (deals) , would you?

We will have the best ofdee on the table. Waiting to trade AD in the summer helps them tank too. Trading AD now might land them pieces that makes their team mediocre enough to miss a top 5 pick. Now if they wait, and sit out Davis, they can tank.

The celts are going to get screwed by this rule.  Just not the same value to trade for a bunch of players (I.e., picks) than the picks themselves.

I mean, if the celts had far and away the best package then maybe the pelicans would wait.  But they don’t.  Ingram, ball, and kizma close to our best offer even if we include Tatum.

Then they are stupid.

Boston can put the best offer on the table, and waiting helps the Pels tank.

Also, you're forgetting that PG had one year left on his deal at the time. AD still has two. New Orleans have all the leverage.

Having davis does not make them in any way worse.

Not having davis makes them worse.

Fakers are going to try hard to dangle Ingram, Hart, Zubac, 1sts to try to pry Davis

Pelicans will certainly want Kuzma though

Yup. I’d do that trade in a heart beat if I were the Pelicans. It’s gotta be all 3 of those guys though.
