What a huge nab for us, especially since it only cost us Hayward’s ankle!  :P

Seriously, though, if we add a Williams or Reke in addition to Moose, look out NBA, because we have a legitimate shot of hanging Banner 18 this year!

Do you genuinely believe that? You could add both and we wouldn't beat GS imo.  IF we got past LBJ (still doubtful imo), I'd expect a gentleman's sweep at best.  Our best player may not bew the 3rd best player in a series against GS.  It really isn't even close.

Have you watched any of Cleveland lately? We’d clearly be the favorites (along with Toronto) in that series right now, and that’s before even discussing Love’s injury and us adding Monroe, let alone the possibility of Hayward coming back or us adding a Tyreke or Lou.

As for GS, I don’t understand why people think they’re invincible. We’ve *literally* played them point for point this year in our two matchups. They’re one of the best teams in decades, but they are beatable in the right matchup, which we happen to matchup very well with them. Sure, they’ll be favored over us, but people acting like it wouldn’t even be a series haven’t been watching the same basketball the rest of us have this season.

I have to agree, we aren't winning a series against GS. I think we lose in five, although they are all close games. GS is literally one of the best basketball teams ever with 4 all stars and 2 MVP level players. Evans and Monroe aren't even on the floor in crunch time in thatseries. They help us in the wast, not GS. That said I'd be happy to eat crow, or crow pie, or crow nuggets on this one.

Define “best teams ever”...

Vs Bird celts, Erving sixers, magic lakers of the 80’s they have zero chance!

I didn’t even mention the Hakeem rockets

I agree that they could I just don't know where the minutes are.  I am sure there are a few.

And I do really like Theis.  I think Monroe is just too skilled and talented though.
Morris will spend a lot more time at SF (where he belongs) or on the pine managing his knee issues.
A bench frontcourt rotation with Morris, Monroe and Theis is going to be just fine!

I start him. Baynes can't finish at the rim and gets beat out time and time again for rebounds.

I agree. Baynes looked better earlier in the season. He has short arms and can't jump. His main attributes are strength and toughness. He is strictly a backup. Stevens uses him sparingly as a starter.

Monroe as a Piston was a good inside/post scorer and passer. Lots of rebounds and FTs. Not much for shot blocking. Not known as a defender. He got lost in Milwaukee and then Phoenix. The question is whether he has to start to be effective. They may want him off the bench as points when Horford is out, but he may be more effective starting. We'll have to see.

Part of their scoring problem is they have a 2 guard, Brown, who is mainly a defensive player, as it looks now. Not a big scorer. With Kyrie out, Rozier has been lighting it up the last two games, including tonite against the Hawks. Perhaps he is breaking out. What that means has to be determined.

I haven't followed this thread, but the best Celtics teams I've seen are the 50s-60s Russell teams that won about 10 championships in a row, or thereabouts. Havlicek was a part of those teams as well. I think the Cowens and Bird-McHale teams were a notch below.

The Sixers had that '67 team with Wilt that beat the Celtics and won about 70 games. You have to add one of the Lakers teams with Magic and Worthy, and then the Jordan-Pippen Bulls teams.

Early in NBA history, you had the Minneapolis Lakers with Mikan and Pollard. They were the class of the league before Russell came along. The Hawks won a championship in '57 with the great Petit when Russell sprained his ankle and couldn't play.

The thing about the Celtics with all those Championships in the 50s-60s: no Russell, no championships. One player made the difference.

He's the second best player in the league in Defensive Rating.  His strength is that he is one of the elite defensive bigs in the NBA and his minutes are a big part of why we have the best defense.

i'm think the only real reason we got this guy was to rest horford as much as possible.

Can't wait to see what Coach Stevens does with him.

I'm curious to see how Stevens utilizes a traditional center who doesn't have 3 point range.

He's the best big coach Stevens has had after Horford.

Might be something to do with his post scoring, passing or rebounding too. Just maybe

People saying he is going to come off the bench and eat into Theis' minutes. I'm not so sure, I wouldn't be surprised to see him eat more of Baynes' minutes.

Ojeleye’s too. Morris will likely play predominantly 3 now.

Horford needs a competent backup who has a scoring ability .

Competition is good .....survival of the fittest ......we ll see who survives to play on next years team .

Monore really has not been on good teams .  He is mature now and might decide to stake his claim , if he is happy and playing well under Stevens

This is really good point.  CBS knows Monroe strength is being a traditional low-post center.  I am willing to bet he will runs plays for him, regardless of the high emphasis on 3-pt shooting in today's NBA.  Brad will figure out how to best utilize him.

See how he does from here on out..if he perform good then I would try and resign him
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
