Cousins injury gotta cost us Monroe 😞
Yep, too much pt there.
no money though and how much PT does Monroe need. Everyone in the league knows what Monroe is. In fact, he might increase his value more if he comes to a place like Boston and becomes a sort of super sub type player.
Plus, what's Monroe's long term plan?
So he goes to NO for 30 games + maybe 4-5 playoff games, then what? Then he goes to a new team in 2018 when NO ends up re-signing Cousins and there's no longer any room for him in NO? What kind of offers is Monroe getting in the open market in 2018? I don't see him getting a good contract from a contender.
Or he can go to Boston, get $8.4m this year, and 120% of that next year, and at least have a little more stability then what NO offers. Sure he'll be trade bait (and who knows, maybe even gets traded back to NO for Davis).
But I don't know what Monroe would get out of a temporary stay in NO. Doesn't set himself up for a nice playoff run this year, likely doesn't set himself up for another contract with NO (unless they let Cousins walks) and likely doesn't increase his value in the 2018 free agent market when cap space is limited.
