I like Monroe for only 3 reasons.

Solves our rebounding issue, great and skilled at passing, and an underrated bruiser in the paint with a soft touch. He's basically what Sully could've ended up being, minus the 3 point shot, although Sullinger never shot the 3 ball well either.

I find it hard to believe that NOP will acquire both Miko and Monroe.  I think they ended up liking the Miko deal better as it allows them to dump Asik.  They probably plan to sign Cousins and this way they have one less season of likely tax money to pay.

I would say that the Celtics are the leader in the clubhouse for Monroe (I hope, I think he would be good).

Monroe and Mirotic won't help that team any..they going to miss the playoffs...
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I'm with you on this.  Monroe has plenty of flaws but Brad will mitigate them as usual.  He has the ability to make a legitimate impact in playoff games.

I'll add 2 more reasons:

Solid FT shooter for a big (career 70%).
Durable. The guy doesn't miss many games due to injury.

Monroe to Celtics chatter seems strangely quiet after the initial flurry.  Is this because all the journalists are in Minneapolis?

Because it sounds like he has one foot in the door in New Orleans who are the frontrunners per all the speculation. He's from Louisiana, he can start and play big minutes and play with AD. They opened up a roster spot and I think are like 14.8 mill under the cap. Seems like he is not coming here.

Lol. They're $1.6m under the HARD CAP. The most they can offer is the veteran's minimum.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Actually they’re $2.2 million under the hard cap and $1.6 million under the tax.  And because of their own DPE, they can offer that $2.2 million if they want.  Still, it’s only 25% of what the C’s can offer.

This is FANTASTIC news! With this trade, there goes Monroe's playing time in New Orleans. Could this be New Orleans response after Monroe told them he is going to Boston instead? I don't see why New Orleans makes this move if Monroe is still a legitimate possibility for them.

Isn't this what steered Horford to Boston and away from ATL? Once the Hawks signed Dwight it ultimately took them off his list of destinations.

I misread the article as it's the Bulls that are 14.8 mill under the cap. That is a relief.  So unless he wants to play for a much lower hometown discount then his best option for money is with Boston. Of course the lure of minutes to build his value for an upcoming contract is also a consideration.

Odds that if Monroe's interested in our extra $ Danny will try to use it as leverage to get Monroe to sign one of his classic 1 + team option deals?

DPE can only be a rest of season deal, no option or anything else.  So the odds would seem to be nil.
