I have heard the Celtics would like Tyreke Evans and are willing to talk moving their own first round pick, but want to send a player(s) to Memphis, to conserve the DPE for use on another player. They don't want to just let go of the $5M in salary difference between Evans & DPE.

I've always thought that was the most logical path.
That's because Evans actually makes peanuts so you can match with a minimum contract or two. Or even Smart, if you choose to go that way.

What do we think that looks like? Smart yabu and Larkin?

Yeah, if you wanted to send three times Evans' salary back...

Yabusele alone is sufficient.

Hell, Rozier even works.

From a player perspective, ideally you send Rozier, which leaves Smart for perimeter defensive reasons and as a complement to Evans.

From a money perspective, ideally you send Smart, because then you would only have one of them (Evans) coming up for a new contract this summer.

I can't see them parting with Smart for what is most likely a half-season rental in Evans. His elite perimeter D is just too valuable, where Rozier's production can be easily matched and exceeded significantly by Evans.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

There is zero chance Rozier is sent out for Evans.

I've been beating the Yabusele + Boston's 2018 1st for awhile.

Hopefully we could get him for cheaper, but I'm not sure with as big of a market as is developing for him. It might require something like Rozier to get him.

Rozier looks pretty [dang] good in his first career start.

Sorry, he’s just not a “throw-in” type of player.

I'd be pretty surprised if it's anything more than that. I absolutely think Rozier or Smart can be traded but Danny doesn't give away assets. Tyreke would be a fantastic addition, but he's expiring and doesn't come with bird rights. At least if Marcus Smart walks this offseason, a sign and trade is on the table to get an asset of some sort back.

Yes, and that's why you'd like to keep the DPE...

Why not? We are parting with Smart anyway at the end of the season, because Danny won't give him the money he will ask.

I don’t know how much he can get shooting 30% or whatever he is, again.

He’s as polarizing a player as there is, but you just know when the playoffs begin he’s gonna be in the middle of some play to turn a game that only Marcus can do. Does any guy in the league draw two consecutive inbounds offensive fouls on the MVP?

I would take him back at $8M a year and hope his shot eventually becomes consistent. It seems like he makes the shots he shouldn’t and bricks the open ones he should knock down.
