I prefer Lou but either would be a nice addition and with love out, might give us a shot to get to the finals.  Would be fun to watch

The longer this takes to get one of these guys the less I think anything is happening. I seem to get excited about possibilities every trade deadline and I seem to wait until like an hour or two after the deadline when I realize - nothing is happening again. I hope I am wrong this year.

Memphis can't resign Evans (no bird rights) for the money he'll ask in the off-season.

Therefore they MUST trade him. So something is going to happen. Question is who is going to be the highest bidder.

For what it's worth, I'd be happy to send over a non-LA first-rounder... maybe even put new protections on that Memphis pick. Though I'd prefer to send our own first and call it a night. Why not?

Additionally, I might even prefer to resign Evans at a decent price over Smart. Different players, different contributions but as someone who loves what Smart brings to the table when he's playing well, I'm running out of patience for him to tie it all together.

Charania is saying we’re not signing Eddie to a second ten-day contract because we’re opting for flexibility at the trade deadline. Hopefully that means Danny is serious about picking up an Evans or Williams to help our bench and offense.

We’re talking some penny-pinching flexibility if that’s the case.  It’s $8300 a day for Eddie, and his second 10-day would have run out on the trade deadline.  They weren’t going to eat a lot of money if they needed a roster space.

Well it could be that they also thought he wasn't good enough to take up that spot and didn't want to waste the money because they were never going to sign him to a rest of the year contract. This also allows him to possibly find a spot elsewhere before the 10 day contract time period runs outm

If LAC is looking to dump salary, I don’t know why the DPE isn’t their best option. Why take back any money when you can save that money and buy a late first if you want.

I’d offer their own pick back (either they will be terrible next year and it won’t ever convey, or they will get multiple stars and the pick will be a late one anyway), and maybe Yabu if they demand a player.

Williams for DPE, Yabu, LAC 19 pick

Pretty much same thing for Memphis. They aren’t going anywhere and they won’t resign Evans, so see what you can get in terms of future assets but why pay a player a few million to end the season when you don’t have to?

Not sure if this deserves its own thread but Tyreke Evans will not play for the Grizzlies again this season.  He will be traded

That's a bold strategy Cotton!

Trade deadline is next week. Odd that they are going to that extreme but I hope Ainge acts quickly on him. Could be a huge asset to this team going forward.

Don’t sleep on the Celtics as a Tyreke suitor. Not only does he fill a legit need (bench scoring), but Ainge has been enamored with him for 10 solid years. And let’s just say the Trade Machine approves Smart and Boston’s 1st pick for Tyreke.

Why on earth would we give up that much? Who else will be offering more than a 1st rounder?

Agreed. I don't think they would give up that much (aka Smart). I get the 1st rounder. Maybe Yabusele/Nader.

Agreed. First rounder and a young bench guy (Nader)
