Ainge is a ****, but he always has been. And he was able to sign Hayward and Horford. Oh wait, that was 95% because of IT, who he then took a dump on.
I wish there was a way to calculate the difference in CB site traffic before and during IT's tenure. I'd guess there would be a 30%+ difference.
I'm pretty sure Stevens was the big reason. IT's big eye emojis and clovers don't really get guys to commit.
We also haven't been in any of the rooms that DA and IT have discuses new contract. IT could have been hinting at a 5 year deal, and I'm sure most CBer's wouldn't want that. You see most people wanting 3 year, 4th team option, cause little guys go down hill fast after 30, and then you add an injury that is taking forever to heal, signs aren't good.
Last year IT was talking about playing for LA around the same time PG13 was talking. A TON of people wanted DA to make a move to get some thing for him and sell high. And guess what DA did, and now people are complaining. We don't know how much truth there is to that, but maybe it was true and some word got to DA about it.
I loved IT and what he did last year. But the move for Irving sets up nicely for the next 8 to 10 years. I feel bad for him, because he did try to do things to help the team off court. But you rarely hear players say they came here to play with IT. It's more about the team, the make up and Stevens.
Horfod came here because Stevens laid it out nicely, and pitched the idea of playing with KD. Hayward came here because Stevens laid it out an showed him how he'd fit in the system. And Irving waved his traded kicker to come here because he saw how the C's ran their offense fist hand and wanted to play in that system. That too is Stevens. IT was a nice cheerleader for the team, but don't say he was 95% of the reason players came here.
