Someone needs a hug, and a suspension from CB.

Who would want to play here? Just people who want a ring. Basketball has become about feast or famine, a handful of teams who will rule over the universe.

The Celtics are not quite at "In Bill We Trust" standing, but Ainge has developed a Belichickian heart: Emotionless and devoted to winning. If somebody offered Belichick a couple of firsts for Brady, TB12 would be packing faster than you can say "avocado ice cream." Foxboro would be burned to the ground by angry Pats fans, but them's the breaks.

That's why I say that if we trade for Anthony Davis, WE SHOULD NOT INCLUDE HORFORD IN THE DEAL.

It will paint a REALLY BAD picture of Boston if they trade their first marquee FA signing in franchise history within 2 to 2.5 years.

Unfortunately matching AD's salary in another way will be tough assuming a hypothetical trade net summer or beyond.

Seems like an odd perspective from the OP, on the day that the Kyrie deal gets finalized and the team is moving forward as possibly the consensus #1 seed in the East along with a boatload of young talent.  Have a nice day...

Given the OP, does it really seem like an odd perspective?

1) Not an accurate portrayal of reality.

2) Why did you use the term "loser"? It basically shot your (incorrect) point in the foot.

I'm assuming you won't respond to this. It will be hard for you to rationalize this emotional silliness.

Who wants to play for this organization?

Well, it would be the select group of players who want to:

1. Play with Kyrie Irving, who has a track record of outstanding playoff performances, has hit an NBA Finals-winning shot, and has an "it" factor like few others in the league (Jimmy Butler as one example named Irving as the ONE player he'd most like to play with);

2. Play with Al Horford, one of the most versatile big men in the league and an elite screen-setter for anyone who wants to get easier looks in the PnR game;

3. Play with Gordon Hayward, an All-Star and elite all-around wing;

4. Play for Brad Stevens, who's been repeatedly praised by Lebron James and others as a great coach, and named over and over as one of the top coaches "players want to play for" - the proof most recently being Kyrie Irving who's "ecstatic" about playing for him;

5. Play for one of last year's two Eastern Conference finalists, in a conference where the team that beat them just got worse;

6. Play for Danny Ainge, who has already engineered one championship turnaround and is universally respected as one of the best GMs in the league;

7. Play for the Boston Celtics, one of the two most storied franchises in NBA history.

That's who wants to play for this organization. Jeez, I hope we can find someone.

A mid year submission for "Overreaction of the Year" post.
I still think the hysterical posts declaring IT broken as a player and the C's were doomed if we didn't dump him in this deal because we'd have to pay to trade him elsewhere.

I think everything is fine as it is.  Danny never made any promises to IT or Crowder.

I do think that if Ainge started shopping Horford the way that some people on this board are suggesting, that we'd potentially see some blowback down the road from FA.  Horford was recruited here to be part of a contending team.

But I don't think that's happening unless someone like Anthony Davis becomes available.  Then all bets are off.

The stuff from right after the trade deadline back in Feb. were pretty golden too.

...when you trade your best player who led your team to the #1 seed playing through injury, playing through grief, bleeding green, producing at a historic level, and also willing to take LESS money....all for nothing but to get traded to your rival team that you still aren't close to beating. SMH

Kyrie doesn't extend here.

Horford and Hayward know now not to get houses here they could be out the door for Davis or whoever is the next supposed upgrade.

Our young rookies will hold their breath every season until the trade deadline passes...no one is safe.

Oh AND we gave up a blue chip pick.

AND we have no bench.

It will be sad sad sad day when all we have to show for all of this player turnover is two 2nd round playoff exits. :-\

We have chance to be in the finals for years to come. In a few short years, and with a little luck we'll have a special team.

IT was a special scoring talent that had a great 2017 season. Because of his defensive deficiencies, due to his size, and when you speak about a player that can lead you to a title, he was fools gold.

As to the OP's subject question...If you build a winning team...they will come,

And if Kyrie doesn't extend what then?

We have Hayward and Horford.

That's not nearly enough!

I wonder if the OP will be so willing to view the deal so negatively if IT has surgery and misses the season, Kyrie goes for 27/7/3 on 50/40/90 percentages, the Nets pick ends up 6th and the Lakers pick ends up 2nd? BTW, this is all very possible

Most about everyone.  It has worked out well for everyone, including IT.  Ask Evan Turner if it was worth it for him.

Guys are signing here now and all the years of complete loyalty during the 50's, 70's and 80'. and we could not get much of anyone to sign.   Trader Danny comes in and folks sign with us the last two seasons.  Go figure.   Kind of makes all the above assertions seem silly.   There have always been a few good teams in basketball and more often than other sports there is one good team.
