Money is usually first.

Second priority tends to be either winning or the spotlight, depending on a player's makeup.

Loyalty shown to other players is probably a lesser consideration. I mean, George Karl is maybe the snakiest guy in the NBA, and free agents signed to play under him.

The thing about DA is though he will trade almost anyone he tries to put those players in good spots when he can. KG and PP went to a good Brooklyn team that had playoff aspirations, IT and Crowder are going to the Cavs with the best player in the NBA on the team.  It's not like he's trading these guys to Sacramento.

Who wants to play for this organization?

Apparently Horford, Hayward and Kyrie.

The bottom line is:

We will not have cap space to sign free agents for another 5-9 years minimum.

In that time we could win championships. Plural is possible. If you think the following is in the plans:

- We resign Smart, Irving, Rozier, Brown, Tatum and Yabusele.
- Or trade some combination of them for an established player (Anthony Davis).

It could very well be 10-15 years if things go as well as we hope they do.

We have the chance to build a dynasty if we do everything right...

So far Danny has seemed to do everything right. At least the big things. He appears to have hit of both of his #3 selections. He has consistently won trades that were initially dogged (Big 3, Rondo and IT trades were all underestimated initially on what they could return.) He has landed two premier free agents. We appear to have upcoming free agencies in a good position to retain players and that's because we look like we will stay under the luxury tax until we have to resign Brown and Tatum/Yabusele. Which keeps us well positioned to succeed with or without Anthony Davis trade. Which will naturally improve our position in trade negotiations.

People remember championships.

I think that ended when Gordon Hayward was given a max contract.

To answer the question in the OP, a lot of players do.  And high profile players at that.

The Celtics have fully regained their status as one of the preeminent franchises in the NBA.  From the top down (ownership - management - coaching) they are well regarded as some of the most competent in their roles.  And while Celtics fans do seem to annoy the crap out of pretty much every other fan base, players seem to recognize our passion.

Trading away an injured player for an upgrade isn't something that will scare off future free agents.  Neither will trading drafted players or players traded for.  It's not like Ainge has been trading away free agents that signed as unrestricted free agents.
