IT and the pick would have been an overpay. This could go down as the worst trade in Boston Celtic history.

Imagine, the top 5 pick will have completed his first year in the League while Kyrie will be a free agent. Dumb, dumb, dumb trade.

  • GOT IT!!!
It was pretty obvious Gilbert was involved in this whole thing. Crappy owner that will be back owning an irrelevant franchise very soon.

Of all trades, its funny how pick #60 Isaiah thomas being traded has people saying "its just a 2nd rounder"

The Cavs picked Bennett number one, who very well might be the biggest first pick bust in NBA history. I'm not worried about them hitting on a mid second rounder.

Great article in the ringer that goes deep into what the hell was going on.
Gilbert was calling the shots. Lebron and lue were the ones that cooled on the deal...caused cavs to reconsider
Wait so LeBron and Lue werent happy with the deal? Or you mean convinced Gilbert to accept it?

Said they cooled on the deal once they heard about the hip issue

This is the whole paragraph from the article.

Quote
The answer certainly matters to some members of the Cavaliers organization, namely LeBron James and head coach Ty Lue. One league source with an understanding of Cleveland’s situation told me that as news spread throughout the organization that Thomas could miss time deep into the upcoming season, James and Lue cooled on the deal. According to the same source, both the Cavs’ franchise player and their head coach were apparently told by upper management that Thomas and Crowder were being brought in to help the team compete with the Warriors, now.

Sounds like Gilbert and Altman were assuming Lebron was leaving next year so they were preparing for the future, but may have led Lebron and Lue on about the extent of IT's injury.

Hope IT takes his time healing and doesn't risk anything for the queen and coach after this treatment. They really put a lot of crap out there.

No, the big loser in this is IT, his value unfairly took a big hit at the worst time for him. Second loser is the Cavs front office taking a great deal and somehow managing to ruin their rep around the league before finalizing it, all for a mediocre 2nd round pick.

Hope the SLIMEBAG Cleveland Front Office (Freakin' Gilbert) and their Fans are happy  >:(

Here's what I hope happens to Cleveland in the coming year:

(1) The Browns go 0-16
(2) Indians lose the ALDS to no other than the Red Sox  8) (Revenge Baby!)
(3) Cavaliers lose in ECF to Boston OR lose in Finals again BADLY to Golden State
(4) 2018 Brooklyn Pick lands OUTSIDE Top-5 (near #10)
(5) Lebron AND Isaiah leave Cleveland after next season
(6) Crowder DEMANDS a trade out of Cleveland. So does Kevin Love

I am not happy that DA ended up caving a bit.  I wish that the Cavs wouldn't have squeezed that pick out of us.  But in the end we get a better long term situation for the team.

Yes IT is the one who took the brunt of all of this.  I really want him to come back strong this year and see him play well.  I just hope that is later in the season after the Cavs are well behind us in the standings.
