Good thing the Cavs got that second rounder. It's really going to help when/if IT's hip goes out and when ponders his future next summer. Good thing they held this up for a week over it.

Danny Ainge folded and gave Cavs a 2020 second-rounder.

Now teams are going to rip off Danny Ainge when they deal with him in the future.  ::) ::) ::)

But the plus side is...Ainge became a lenient man again after having a reputation of fleecing a team for multiple first-round lottery picks.

I'm actually happy in a way, because after all this deception and (pretty much) blackmail by Cleveland, all they got is a 2020 late 2nd rounder...

And yet after seeing how this played out, I think every team in the league is going to have second thoughts about coming to any trade agreements with the Cavs in the near future.

Was it really worth hurting your reputation and potentially deterring future trade partners just for a later 2nd 2020 rounder???

I was only being sarcastic about adding in a 2020 second-rounder. I was definitely all in for Ainge throwing second round pick to shut them up  ;D Anything significant like Tatum/Brown/Lakers pick and they can go eat poop.

The Cavs ruined themselves by stalling this. But hopefully, teams will start taking Danny Ainge more seriously once again and not be scared of dealing with him (ALA Brooklyn 2013 transaction). Ainge could have bumped chest and said "no, we are not going to add anything more to our original hand-shook package."

Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Hayward, Horford fast break.   :)

I have been saying this since they drafted Tatum.

I'm relieved that it's done. Great deal for the Cavs - by far the best they could've gotten, and a good deal for us as well.

On principle, I'm admittedly a little annoyed that Ainge gave Cleveland anything extra. It obviously wasn't anything significant, but the Cavs didn't deserve anything extra whatsoever.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland's GM burned a lot of bridges in NBA front office circles with how he handled this deal with the Celtics. I get that his job is to get the best deal possible for his team, but it's a close-knit industry and these executives need to work together on a regular basis. I could see Boston - or any other team that feels this was a bush-league delay by the Cavs - being hesitant to work with the Cavs on any future deals.

Here's to the Nets making the playoffs.

Is it a good deal if that ping pong ball for the Brooklyn pick lands at 7 ? 8 ?

That would swing the pendulum more in our favor in that case. I still think it'd be a better deal than the Cavs could have gotten elsewhere, but losing that pick wouldn't sting nearly as much for us.

IT will be 32 when that pick is chosen.

For as salty as I am to lose IT, it'll ultimately be a good outcome.  If Ainge can add one more piece in the next couple of years, and/or one of Tatum/Brown develops into a beast, look out below.

That was the joke. For a team so worried about his hip hurting their chances this year or LeBron bolting next year, this pick does zero to solve those problems.

Thank god this is over.

The way I see it, this is another great trade by Danny. As per usual, this is all very well precalculated, and at the end, it will look very much different what actually the Cavs got from us.

Jae Crowder - a very good 3&D player, could start on a contender, spot up shooter, now solid defender, no dribble and no creation for himself but good player.

Ante Žižić - young player, unproven, great work ethic, strong, good rebounder, slow feet, no bounce, undeveloped mid range offensive game. Could easily be just another center in the league.

IT - we all know everything about him. He gave his everything to us. Played his tail off. But let's not forget that there would be no all star games, no mvp chatter, no fourth quarter king and all that if it wasn't for Danny and Brad. So all of you who are speaking about loyalty remember that good part of his succes was Danny and Brad who gave him a great chance and put him in this position. They improved him and added great value to his game.... The Cavs used this mess to downgarde his current and future value so maybe they could sign him cheaper. My guess IT will not like what he saw and bolts in free agency. He is hurt right now and the question is when he will return and how good he will be.

BKN pick is valuable but think about it, what if Danny has already made some calls with other top 4-5 dwellers in the league and all he got is: we are tanking this year. If not from the start of the season, then sureley after all star break. This could easily be true and then the value of this pick drops. To us. Not to the Cavs. Lol.... and btw anyone who says that the Nets are not better then last year is wrong. They will get at least 25-28 games this season. And of cours, they have no effin incentive to tank.

That would still put them bottom 2-4.

They aren't good. It will definitely be a top-10 pick, probably a top-5 pick, and possibly the top one.

It is what it is. We gave up a lot to ensure we got a top pick (from 2011).

If we saw the best IT we are going to see, I can live with this trade. If he has several more years of all-star play in him, it was a severe overpay giving up that pick. Don't underestimate Crowder on the contract he was on, either. And of course we were all super high on Zizic before summer league and now nobody cares about him. And that Miami second rounder tho...

There's no way to determine if this was a good or bad trade until next year, IMO.

Fine with the overpay, but imo we folded. Hope this doesn't set a precedent for teams to make a stink while doing deals with the Celtics. This feels like us giving a souvenir to random random guy for sleeping with our mum lol. Good trade though, in spite of the overpay we do get a young superstar PG with the potential of reaching MVP level.

Danny Ainge lost. We lost.

No, the big loser in this is IT, his value unfairly took a big hit at the worst time for him. Second loser is the Cavs front office taking a great deal and somehow managing to ruin their rep around the league before finalizing it, all for a mediocre 2nd round pick.

Why (and when?) did his value dip?

Seems it the same as it was since the hip injury news came out...

I imagine we had to give something, once Cleveland ask they can't climb down. As many predicted we gave up the most inconsequential asset. Nothing bad will come of this for us.

For the Cavs, not only did the media run away with this and make fans expect Tatum, they have likely damaged goodwill around the league which they will need when LeBron wins.

The Brooklyn pick is gone. If it becomes the top pick, shouldn't we see that as a positive because it increases the likelihood that the Lakers' pick (top 1 protected by the Sixers) conveys?

You really need to update your signature. Well at least the first two points. Not sure about the third one...
