Danny Ainge folded and gave Cavs a 2020 second-rounder.

Now teams are going to rip off Danny Ainge when they deal with him in the future.  ::) ::) ::)

But the plus side is...Ainge became a lenient man again after having a reputation of fleecing a team for multiple first-round lottery picks.

Danny gave Cavs a likely late second rounder three years out that we don't need so Gilbert wouldn't do something stupid to save face. I don't like the deal, but this was squat to give up and the Cavs look really stupid for making a big fuss and settling for virtually nothing. Worse, they were obviously negotiating in bad faith. The NBA's a small world and doing Mickey Mouse crap like this is what damaged Hinkie so badly with other teams and agents. Doesn't help them retain IT at whatever the market price is either.

Danny Ainge lost. We lost.

Could have been worst

Whatever its done...

We need a kyrie, hayward introduction

I think also IT4 should receive a tribute 1st game back home

Good point, Danny could have also given up Tatum, Brown and/or the Lakers/King pick.  smh....

I put this trade mostly on the owners for giving Danny complete control of the team. Sometimes common sense is too obvious. Instead of questioning this blunderous move they run to their corners. It's beyond me how a group of successful businessmen can be so meek.

Congratulations Cavs, you just eroded trust in your franchise and deterred other teams from dealing with you for years, in exchange for the 58th pick in the 2020 draft.

This, after already being destined to return to the bottom of the heap once LeBron leaves next year. The league might as well contract the franchise.

I'm guessing those who are complaining about Danny throwing in the 2020 2nd round pick have never seen a boob

Exactly. Gilbert's game playing isn't going to help Cavs keep Lebron or IT either.

Good luck trying to pick up the scoring for not having IT for most of the season.

Sure if you're talking about last years roster, and you're not replacing IT with a scorer, but we made 11 roster changes.  Last year we had one legit 20+ point scorer, now we have two.  Irving and Hayward will light it up nightly.  Also, there's even a chance Morris could average around 20 in this system.  He'll match crowder at worst.  We have a legit future star in Tatum, who can strait-up score.  Our roster is so much better it's sick.  Too bad GSW are so good.

I'm relieved that it's done. Great deal for the Cavs - by far the best they could've gotten, and a good deal for us as well.

On principle, I'm admittedly a little annoyed that Ainge gave Cleveland anything extra. It obviously wasn't anything significant, but the Cavs didn't deserve anything extra whatsoever.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland's GM burned a lot of bridges in NBA front office circles with how he handled this deal with the Celtics. I get that his job is to get the best deal possible for his team, but it's a close-knit industry and these executives need to work together on a regular basis. I could see Boston - or any other team that feels this was a bush-league delay by the Cavs - being hesitant to work with the Cavs on any future deals.

Here's to the Nets making the playoffs.

plus we don't even know what we have in semi and yabu yet. And brown should make a small step forward at worst

Is it a good deal if that ping pong ball for the Brooklyn pick lands at 7 ? 8 ?

I'm actually happy in a way, because after all this deception and (pretty much) blackmail by Cleveland, all they got is a 2020 late 2nd rounder...

And yet after seeing how this played out, I think every team in the league is going to have second thoughts about coming to any trade agreements with the Cavs in the near future.

Was it really worth hurting your reputation and potentially deterring future trade partners just for a later 2nd 2020 rounder???

Of all trades, its funny how pick #60 Isaiah thomas being traded has people saying "its just a 2nd rounder"

Yeah because that's so common
