"But since the team does it I guess it's just business. Smh!! It is just a business so when the teams do it there should be no difference when the players do it! Remember that!! @caronbutler thanks for the post my brother #facts stay strong @isaiahthomas"

The "business" argument would hold more weight for Ray if he didn't take half of what Boston was offering to join Miami.

Ray is right. He was responding to Caron Butler's post. He's mad about fans trashing players for leaving, but cheering when players are sent out of town against their will.

Danny did what he thought was best, trading IT and AB.  It's not loyalty, it's business. Ray did what he thought was best, too.

IT was injured . Ray turned his back on a contender

GM's job is to treat players as chess pieces.

I suspect that KG and Paul Pierce would say there's a difference between leaving a team and abandoning your teamMATES.

It really is more than some hardcore fans that had issues with Ray Allen.  KG and Pierce were seriously miffed by his leaving.  That may have led to more fans being upset.  For me, I am fine with Ray Allen, I understand it is a business but he should also understand that fans are going to root hard against him when he leaves.  Kind of like Johnny Damon.  But Johnny just took the boos and tipped his cap.  He understood.  Ray doesn't seem to.

Sorry, but Ray has faulty logic. Fans and owners both expect the same thing of GMs and players: winning.

The best thing a GM can do for a franchise is make good decisions, even hard ones, about players.
The best thing a player can do for a franchise is give their all, and want to play for them.

A GM trading players to improve the team is fulfilling that promise.
A player going to a rival team for less money is not.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Johnny Damon took a four year deal with the Yankees worth $52M, while the Red Sox wouldn't give him more than three years.

Ray Allen was offered twice what the Heat offered him and I believe a no-trade clause. Almost every player that leaves a team leaves for more money and sometimes fans fault them for not giving a hometown discount. What Allen did was show just how much he didn't want to play with Boston (or KG/PP), a contender at the time, by taking much less money. It is almost unprecedented; hence, why so many people hate him.

Danny doesn't have 1 loyal bone in his body...Kinda sucks, I was p---ed about the Perk trade, cause it KILLED our chemistry....If IT did not injure his hip, he would probably still be here.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Did anyone cheer when IT was traded? I saw quite the opposite.

Ray seems to have beef with fans who don't control money or personnel decisions. "Where were y'all when the team tried to trade me?" What were the fans supposed to do? Storm the castle? He can't have it both ways - he can't get into petty spats on Instagram with fans and they claim "it's a business." Either you're above it or you're not.

Ray was butt hurt so he left for more money.  Just like IT would leave next year if the trade fell through.  It's their prerogative.  No Ill will towards Ray.  He took less money and won.  Good for him.  He is right that players get more cap then owners.  Both should be able to do what they want.  It's a job.
