I think the Cavs know James is goner. They made the deal for the pick to rebuild and now they probably want another one.

Boston does not want Thomas back...ever. Him returning cripples this team.

agree.....

And another pick would be like a not much value one .....one based on IT s true value at this point .

NO way Brown or Tatum or Smart replaces IT in this trade ....screw the cavs ....a hurt IT never had much value .....it was all hype and Celtics being quiet hoping to get rid of him .

Either way the Celtics are no worse .  IT is the big loser in all of this .

The Cavs are probably trying to squeeze further compensation from us, since they have us by the nose hairs.

Give them the 2018 Celtics pick top 20 protected and call it a day. Or the Clippers pick

I think they are worse and have to find a legit PG going forward. Rozier or Larkin are not good enough to be the guy at the position this year or next

Any concession the Celtics give should be on a contingent basis....what if Cleveland still goes to the final....what are the damages?

That's not how NBA trades work.

We already over paid in the initial trade. If anything, we should double down and put #1 protections on the Brooklyn pick. No way Cleveland gets a better offer anywhere else in the league. They want to wimp out and continue to let LeQueen run their franchise, fine. Walk away. This is all posturing to squeek even more out of the best package they could get.

If they want to renegotiate, then fine.. we'll take Tristan back to clear some cap space for them ;)
Truuuuuuuuuth!

If the C's give anything else to complete the same trade, then ainge got played. This was no secret injury.

3 things I would not give them: the Lakers pick, Tatum or Brown.

If Boston has to take Thomas back and he is going to miss most of the season, it really makes it tough in them. Larkin is a scrap heap PG and rozier is not an NBA starter. You have no legit PG.

Thomas' value to this team is zero if he cannot play. Nobody wants him in a trade. He cannot play and help the season. Just waiting for him to be a FA so he can go elsewhere.

The quotes sound like boilerplate you could hear from anyone involved in the deal.. I mean "All players must pass physical, or a deal can be voided" applies to every deal doesn't it? Absent a specific waiver?

This.

Woj doesn't bomb anymore.

He's just doing his job scoring some premium August clicks off our rabid fanbase.

If Boston has to take Thomas back and he is going to miss most of the season, I would look to release him. No point in him taking up a roster spot knowing he cannot play. You know you are not resigning him. He really adds zero value to this team if he is really hurt.

It's called good will.   We can't treat employees like that.

You also have to do what is best for your team. Thomas has no future with the Boston Celtics if he cannot play this season. He does not figure into their long term plans. Him sitting on the bench all season in a nice suit being cheerleader is pointless.

Was the last time this happened to us the Gary Payton trade with the Lakers? Payton wouldn't take his physical, so we took Marcus Banks out of the deal.

The Cavs wanted Tatum all along. I am sure they would even be willing to replace him with the BKN pick (not in addition to). They can go you know what themselves.

Really immature ploy by a rookie gm. This is not how you develop relationships in the NBA.

Ainge had more leverage before and has more now. Seriously. IT had a hip injury and didn't need surgery. He is rehabbing. The Cavs knew this. The end. If they don't like it they can have back Kyrie and we get back IT, a top pick, Crowder, and Zizic.

100% of what they sent us they don't want and can't use. We can easily make good use of a lot of what we sent them.

Go ahead Cavs. Your move. I'll walk away

I don't want Thomas back.
and they don't want Kyrie back
