My guess is the Cleveland medical eval has their medical staff concluding that the hip is worse than  Boston's staff concluded.  How much worse determines what they'd ask for to sweeten the deal. Maybe they go get an independent medical eval and then try to put it all together.

I imagine you need to come to some sort of consensus on the severity of his condition before you can figure out additional compensation.

Boy, what a mess. Neither team wants this rescinded.

I'm sure they want to keep the deal regardless. They weren't getting anything more valuable than that Brooklyn pick.

However, while there's already like a 75% chance that Lebron leaves next summer anyways, hamstringing that team without IT for a large portion of the season would essentially be escorting Lebron out of the door. I'm sure that's what they're worried about the most.

Then again, it could just be them trying to angle for more, specifically Tatum.

We'd think they don't have leverage, right?

I hope Danny thinks the same way. All the assets we give up, we can move again for someone else. Cavs would risk losing a very valuable asset AND LeBron.

Ball is on their court.

MAYBE

I think it is sound to assume the HEAT were also in the running for Kyrie and offered a package including Dragic , Winslow and a future 1st.... but the Celts beat this offer .... however with an unknown health status of IT4..... Cavs may like this package a little better.... or they just want to try to squeeze a little more out of Danny

Danny may include one of the non lotto picks ... I hope he doesn't have to include Rozier.

Just for the sake of argument, let's omit Isaiah for a second?

So they'd rather have Dragic, Winslow and Miami's 1st, which could be a mid to early 20's than Crowder, Zizic and the Nets pick? They won't want a chance of getting Marvin Bagley III , Michael Porter, Jr, DeAndre Ayton, Mohamed Bamba or Luka Doncic and start their post LeBron rebuild? They'd have to be crazy...

We don't have to add anything else.

Forget this nonsense

void the trade....

IT4 goes for surgery....comesback for the 2nd half of the season.    Up to Danny and Wyc if they want to resign him or lose him for nothing

keep Crowder and 2018 nets pick nets us Bagley or Porter Jr.

Dangle that sheet in front of the Cavs face

That offer still is nowhere near our offer. Their first round picks aren't going to be close to beating that Brooklyn pick.

And for them, Dragic is really just wasted money, because he's not going to keep Lebron in Cleveland. I think even with IT's hip injury something like an injured IT, Crowder, Zizic, and the Brooklyn pick is better than that Miami offer.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Our offer is better even WITHOUT IT.

If LeBron really is leaving, wouldn't they want a top 5 pick to kick start their rebuild? Dragic, Winslow, a mid to late 1st and Kevin Love will take them where, exactly?

How about no. Thomas is not part of any future plans in Boston. Having surgery means he is done for the year. Crowder is not needed

The only good thing is the pick. Boston is going nowhere with Shane Larkin or rozier running the point and getting starters minutes

Wishful thinking...

What if Danny says "forget it" and Cleveland caves because they know they won't get better value than what they are getting and begs to continue the deal by adding protection to the Brooklyn pick?

Like, say, if it's top 2, then they get the LaKings pick instead.

And then it ends up in the top 2, and the Lakers pick at 5.

Boy would that be fun. . .

Miami doesn't have a 1st to trade until 2023 unless they can acquire a 1st from some other team.  They traded their 2018/2019 1st (top 7 protected in 2018) and 2021 1st (unprotected) to the Suns for Dragic.

you should prepare for the worst....bc if the Cavs try to squeeze too much out of Danny...he will balk

I have a feeling they want an additional 1st(non lotto) or Rozier....

Again, my friend is a physical therapist with a hip specialist certification from Hospital for Special Surgery. His particular area of expertise/interest is labral tears. He's worked with tons of high level athletes/entertainers and he was flabbergasted that IT didn't have surgery. As recently as yesterday, I asked his thoughts and he reiterated that he didn't understand the thought process here. IT could've had the procedure in May and be projected to return to sport at relatively the same time he's supposed to come back now.

We can't give up Tatum, brown, or Lakers pick. We already gave them a prized pick. Give them a "sweetener" like the Memphis pick and tell them to go away

Preferably id like to give them a 2nd rounder or late first

I doubt the Memphis pick is going to make up for the fact that their Kyrie replacement can't even freaking play. Either this trade is rescinded and they go talk to Phoenix about Bledsoe or we stock them up for a total rebuild with Lakers pick and Tatum. Forget that noise, we take back our assets, if Crowder cries we trade him too..

This also impacts Trader Danny and his trading methods with the NBA. Now NBA teams will not deal with Danny after fleecing Brooklyn years ago and causing this stir with Cleveland.

Danny sure has a strong reputation of his trading ways. Ugh.

Only if it's decided that Danny is hiding something. That seems highly unlikely, given that the entire world knows that IT's hip is busted right now.  The Celtics doctors don't appear to think he needs surgery.  Maybe the Cavs doctors do (or maybe the Cavs are just bluffing to get greased up a little more, which is what I suspect).  Doctors can have differing opinions on how to handle an injury.  Doesn't necessarily mean that either doctor is wrong, nor does it cast some shadow on Danny.

Cavs fans would be more upset than us. They want that BKN pick
