Trade was a mistake from the start. Could care less if it gets voided and hope it does.
Thomas walks away for nothing at the end of the year? Small loss.
Recouping the BRK pick, huge win.
We weren't winning anything with Uncle Drew, I'm not buying he was going to resign so assuming he left in two year what's did we gain? Another ECF loss to Cleveland MAYBE two losses in the finals to the Dubs? This is the Celtics, Eastern Conference champion accolades don't get raised to the rafters.

Our window is 3-5 years out. Tatum, Brown, that Brooklyn pick, lakers pick and Memphis pick are our future and best chance to win a championship. We're not winning anything until the warriors ride off into the sunset.
Stay the course. Patience will virtue, follow the Warriors model, build within and the next Durant will come for pennies on the dollar just to get his ring.

This trade got us nothing but a bad rep in the league.

Nailed it. Horrible, horrible trade. Would be a huge win to get a Mulligan..

Dumping Thomas is a good thing. He is toast.

I guess this might the most significant out come.  Finally closure to this on going battle , denial or him being hurt or not .   His not no help sitting on the bench , putting up 5-10 points a game half crippled.   Danny and IT were both play n a game to see if IT could land any deal and Danny could get any value.

We get our Nets pick and Zizic back ....end the IT era ....move on .

We should,be in the drivers sit ....not Cavs ...they are losing Irving one way or the other and Lebron too....so if a Nets pick does not help then ....screw them.

he nailed nothing. all that crap has been debunked here. I am not going through it all again.   Send in your application to Wyc for GM. i am sure you would be so much better since you are guaranteeing all these picks pan out? You also feel we cannot compete now and later? I will also bet you could have swung the KG and RA deals and then flip them later like he did. But go ahead and knock yourself out.. LOLOLOL

Correct. Best case is Boston gets Kyrie and also gets a top 2-5 pick from the Lakers in this next draft. You have a superstar PG and wing...2 young stars in Brown and Tatum and you nab another young talent from a deep draft.

You are set up to win now AND later

I'm a bit confused... how can you trade for a known injured player and then void the trade due to said injury... Thomas' hip was not hidden from Cavs when decision was made.

TP.

This is the weird part for me as well.

They should have known coming in that Thomas is still dealing with a hip injury, yet they agreed to the deal anyway. Unless Ainge mislead them on IT4's medical reports, why are they all of a sudden going for a void for said injury?

My guess is that their staff thinks he needs surgery, which would basically put him out for the majority if not the entire season, and he was the centerpiece of the trade.

It's like if you agreed to buy a car that had some rear bumper damage from a fender bender. No big deal. But then you have the car inspected and it turns out there is damage to the rear axle, making it likely that major repairs will be needed before the car can be safely driven.

bingo. with hayward, kyrie and tatum we can make finals now and play the warriors. IT will never be the same.  we know how to blitz him in playoffs like cavs did to him and shut him down if he is even healthy by the time we play cavs in playoffs. lebron is gone after this year. brooklyn pick won't save them. all they will have is kevin love. he may be gone soon after lebron leaves.

Uh, you do realize the Cavs have every right to void the trade if they don't like what they saw in Thomas' physical, right?

Or have you been living in a cave?

I'm beginning to think this is very likely what has happened. It's entirely possible the Cavs doctors don't agree with the assessment the Celtics doctors have made.

Dumping Thomas is a good thing. He is toast. Having to keep him means Boston is not getting out of the East and would struggle IMO getting to the ECF. I just do not have any faith in him or his hip.

That means Boston would need a PG for next season...not Rozier or Larkin...a legit PG. If you trade those lottery picks or if you draft, you have to replace Thomas' production.

Y'all act like Kyrie is the only PG in the league. And we have no choice but to go for the highest priced one. Basically you're admitting we made this trade out of sheer desperation over the IT situation. And I agree, this trade has always seemed like a desperation move from the beginning. We're like the used car salesman that tried to dump the lemon onto you before you noticed the transmission was shot. Oh and well throw in free gas for a year and free oil changes for life. Oh and this motorcycle for free. No refunds!!

Not a good look.

Media as usual is ahead of the facts here.

I think Cavs view the Nets pick as primary piece in this deal. They know IT's hip isn't fully healed yet, and besides, he's a rental. Sure they want their doctors to examine him, like any other traded player--including Irving.

I don't think they make this deal if IT was the prime piece. He's a rental and coming off an injury. That's why Ainge sweetened the deal to include the Nets pick.
